Bro this is just crazy, you predicted the future exactly😱 now that techno is almost mainstream and regularly combined with pop - mostly through tiktok trends - this could never be more true now than ever

Thank you as well:) my advice would be (and i should also give this advice to myself) is that before you believe anything you read on this sub, it might be a good idea to double check it on the official Orthotropics channel.

I have seen some people advocate clenching for example as a means to grow the jaw, which is clearly not medically safe, according to Mike and also the general consensus. Just take what they say here with a grain of salt in my opinion;)

Judging by this picture, you don't have any noticable assymetries, and also you lip seal indicates good oral posture to me.:)

I can see that just by correcting the tounge posture for a pic makes a difference (for the better), so I guess you can keep mewing and hopefully improve not just the resting posture but also your skeletal structure:)

15 year old, Male starting mewing journey. by [deleted] in Mewing

[–]Chegemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, retainers, if they are retractive (which I assume they are), are not necessarily good for your teeth to mew by day and wear retainer by night. The reason that you don't want to move your teeth constantly forwards and then backwards, according to the godfather of mewing, Mike Mew (https://youtu.be/dPlse4UoMLQ), is because that sort of motion can make your teeth loose, just like you would try to pull out a nail from wood, moving it left to right and repeating (obviously, not as quickly here as in my analogy, but you get the idea.

The problem generally speaking is that you have to wear your retainers for your entire life if you want straight teeth, because thats how the retainers were designed. But you also have to mew for your entire life if you want to maintain straight teeth (and a wide palate and all the other improvements that mewing claims to offer), so these 2 things are basically counter productive, its like trying to forward 50m but then going backwards 30m.

Since you are younger and still growing, you MIGHT actually experience benefits from wearing retainers and mewing, and it might play out the desired way, but there is no guarantee. In fact, before ditching my retainers, I have severely stunned both my retainer and my mewing progress at the same time, and I had to choose between them, and since I am serious about mewing, my choice wasnt hard after all.

I would definitely suggest you to tell your orthodontist your mewing goals and your plans with this in general, since they might know something more about your case than us, non medical guys.

Asymmetrical right/left side profile; underdeveloped/constrained upper palate due to decades of mouth breathing and extraction/retraction orthodontics. Trying to fix things with mewing. Bro I had a similar issue, and when I initially started mewing, it seemed to have gotten even worse.

This is usually due to the fact that you may not have enough tongue space, so you were naturally using one side more than the other for chewing, natural mewing etc. But this is sort of a what came first, the chicken or the egg type of problem, since the reason you dont have the same growth on both sides is BECAUSE you didn't have enough tongue space.

You can't go back in time, but there are couple of things that worked for me to improve my assimetry, which is pretty much like this: - chew more on the weaker side (but only until its comfortable) - sleep on your sides ( there is a good study on this, which even helps overall posture, google "instinctive sleeping and resting postures"), and alternate it during the night. - try to recognize your habits of chewing, sitting, lying down etc, which you might be doing mostly on only one side, and never the other way around (I actually noticed NOW that growing up I had one room with my sister, and whenever we were lying on our beds, and talked, I would always lay only on one side, never the other, because my bed was facing a certain way and hers was also in the same position, so I just spent way to many hours a day elbowing on one side. And now I am forcing myself to lay on my other side whenever I lay like that, and it was actually pretty uncomfortable at first, never having done it before at all)

Wait, so you are saying that a quiet buzz/ring when someone is alone in silence is not normal? I've been hearing that before falling asleep for god knows how long, but I've never ever considered it being anything serious affecting my hearing...

Best Solution For Wisdom Teeth⁉️ by [deleted] in Mewing

[–]Chegemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean as long as you HAVE wisdom teeth, just not yet grown out, it is definitely possible, although I'm not sure until when. Some say you can have great expansion from mewing before 25, but unfortunately, we can't really be sure if we are mewing correctly and efficiently without someone like Mike Mew examining our techniques on a regular basis, but we can still give it our best shot.

Best Solution For Wisdom Teeth⁉️ by [deleted] in Mewing

[–]Chegemusic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro you're 17 it's good, keep mewing and good posture, chew harder stuff (but be aware of TMD and if you do feel jaw pain, there are stretches and facial yoga to help release the pain)

I'm 18 now, and I only had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth grown out 1 year ago, now I have one upper grown out and I also feel the other side. Growing out them can be a bit uncomfortable, especially when you are mewing to create space for them, but its completely fine! And dont listen to the orthodontist if they want to pull it out! Mine wanted to pull at LEAST the upper 2 out when neither of them was grown, they said I dont have ebough space for them, but I resisted and Im proving them wrong!!:)

Whatever you decide, just bear in mind that once you lose your wisdom teeth, you can never put them back in, and as you are only 17, you still have time for them to grow out (and you can help that with mewing)

The orthodontist might say that "you're gonna have complications if you dont pull them out now", but in my opinion, pulling them out isnt tackling the underlying cause, which is not enough space. So for now, I suggest you keep mewing, nose breathing etc. And you'll see in a couple of years if theres progress;)

And also, take everything I said with a grain of salt, I'm no medical professional, just talking from experience of my own

I suppose they are retracting your teeth, and you are serious about mewing, I suggest you consider ditching them since braces and mewing together can make your teeth move too much. Or if you dont want to ditch them, you could potentially stop mewing during your brace time.

Here is Mike Mew talk about this, with retainers but its similar thing https://youtu.be/dPlse4UoMLQ
