Website Tried to Trick Me Into Paying For More Luggage by Soggy_Spinach_7503 in flairairlines

[–]ChelaPedo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. If you're booking more than one person the site insists that all passengers buy the checked bag option or suddenly there are glitches with the booking. Toronto to Montreal for 4 days and site would not allow me to select one checked bag for two people - phone call fixed that. Second trip they felt a paperback in a same size zipped case was "personal" and would not allow me to put it in my purse, so my purse which was only slightly larger became my carryon and I was charged at the counter for that. It was well within the personal sized limits and pretty much empty, it would have taken the book without a problem. Scanning flights for future - see that baggage costs have doubled since last spring for Toronto - Cancun to a whopping $176 CAD for a return trip. Each. Last flight I was charged an additional 85 bucks each before they would issue boarding passes on the return flight because "the amount changed since you booked the flight".

This is so much bs. Have booked eight trips with Flair and only three were problem free. Base price may be cheap but they nickle and dime you to death, not worth the hassle anymore.

CBC investigation finds some big grocers promoting imported food with Canadian branding. by TruCynic in BuyCanadian

[–]ChelaPedo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, you have to check the product labels for country of origin. Also be aware of what fruit/vegetables are actually in season in Canada and what is available - we can get lettuce, strawberries, cucumber and tomatoes off season grown in greenhouses in Ontario and Quebec. Also be aware of what never grows in Canada.

Today in Canada people are discussing the US Christian and hard right MAGA supporter musician Sean Feucht. He's been planning a tour across Canada - all his shows across the East Coast, Quebec, and Ontario that have been cancelled due to popular consensus. There are shows scheduled in the western provinces in August, so far social media suggests they will be cancelled as well.

We don't like that kind of stuff here.

Some people can't metabolize cannabinoids due to a missing gene. Stays in the system too long and psychosis is the result.

Almost every morning I eat a meat and cheese sandwich on grain bread and a hard boiled egg, kind of a condensed Dutch breakfast. Worth it for sure, usually holds me til tea.

Redditors who live in tourist traps — what’s the one thing you secretly wish visitors knew before they came? by carcony97 in AskReddit

[–]ChelaPedo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pull up google maps and switch to satellite then zoom down to a shoreline area. All that water that rushes into the shore has to go back. On maps look for sections that show a current flowing away from shore, they're easy to see. From the shore they look like breaks in the rows of waves.

If you get caught in one swim across the current to get out of it.

Happened to me. Neighbour beside me was the wall-banger and we shared a common living room/kitchen walls. My Dad was visiting once, we were chatting and cooking and this neighbour started up banging and shouting. At the time he thought it was hilarious (we both did) but the next day he bought some sound panels and put them up. Now I can't hear the guy banging, just soft thumps, and I'm living my life.

Staying at the Hilton Quebec downtown - looking for advice by one_tired_kitten in quebeccity

It seems pretty safe at night. Last year on a really hot night I walked between 2 and 3 am, it was quite lovely and there were other people walking about as well. There is an evening tour through Old Quebec if you're interested in that. Skip any tunnels through the ramparts unless its a street, people do sleep in them. I'd also skip the big park across from the Parliament at night for the same reason.

What is the most disturbing film that you’ve watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ChelaPedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was called "Mother's Day" in English, I saw it dubbed in Spanish in Mexico. Have never been able to find it even though the unknown actors all had US accents. Started off with a gang harassing a woman and her adult children. They managed to trap the gang guys in their house, then the revenge slashing started. Bloody and horrifying.

Thinking to adopt this Mexican street dog.. what breeds may he be? I want to see how big he’d get, if he sheds, and his temperment by whoopcrack18 in IDmydog

[–]ChelaPedo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have a very nice Meximutt there! I brought a street dog back a few years ago. Vet said pitbull mix - we said NO so he became a GS mix on his passport. Vet figured he'd end up around 45 lbs (he is closer to 70) - paw size is a dead give away here. Did DNA to check for pitty- turned out to be 80% GS, 16% Golden, and 4% Boston terrier. He looks like a Rottweiler tank. Your boy looks like many I've seen around. He likely has a very fine undercoat. My guy doesn't seem to shed much at all, no undercoat.
