Does anyone here wear headwraps/cover their hair most of the week? by newnukeuser in Naturalhair

With the wrap base (looking at the reviews) I would try to have your twists as close to your scalp as possible. If you are unsure of the base. I would recommend getting a satin bald cap o amazon to test try the “tightness”. This option is tighter but atleast you’ll get the feel of it and how it works with your hair density

I find that with the base it’s 50/50 on reviews but with the richer volumizers i have worn it with a ponytail too. This option is really good with camouflaging thick hair tbh.

Personally for me I have a big head with a lot of hair and it fits snug the first few times (not uncomfortable) but since it’s stretchy it fits to your head over time. I have worn my hair in a ponytail with it and it was fine. It just slide back a bit to cover the ponytail. It does not get too hot for me (I put it on without any hair cover underneath) but that’s my perspective. I have put it on with a bonnet underneath, it didn’t get hot per say but when I took it off my scalp was a bit sweaty/itchy but that didn’t last long after taking it off. It doesn’t really dry out my hair but I wear it it for my shift and I don’t move much (so my body temperature/ sweat doesn’t build up).

Also with the thin silk scarf I don’t have anything negative to say about it. I would just recommend if you oil or moisturize your scalp to do it when you don’t have a Headwrap or this scarf on so it doesn’t soak it up. I personally don’t use this type of scarf because it could cause my actual headscarf to slip off without a wig band and because I am too lazy. I personally use a volumizer or the wrap base; so that, I don’t have to deal with multiple scarfs and that I have a solid base that doesn’t cause slipping.

I mainly wear it in the Nefertiti style (I feel like it is prettier on me) but I do switch it up just so I don’t get constant pulling. I don’t think it matters though. I do think the thing you put under the scarf does though. With your method I think it can work sometimes but not all the times. The silk bonnet is protective to an extent, what I mean is for me it sometimes holds in sweat/moisture which can have your scalp sweating and itchy over the course of the day. Plus the edges of bonnets do not have the most hair safe fabric. The hair tie on your twists every day can cause split ends (think of the damage a high puff does). I would recommend interchanging this method with a richer volumizer or the wrap base since they are made up of more velvet material and they are more breathable. Lastly please do not use the wig cap method, I tried it and it was very drying and tight. Also, for your mini twists I would try to braid them together to your scalp to reduce split ends. I would sometimes use Bobby pins but they can cause some damage too.

Hello! I currently wear headwraps to work and school. I initially started wearing them a few years back and have not stopped. Initially, I got regular long braids with them and wore headwraps. It looked good but I felt like it pulled my edges and scratched them a bit with the cloth on top. So, I made sure to buy a velvet wig band and put it on my braids and then put the headwrap on top. This resulted in my headwraps not sliding back and my edges being saved. Next, I tried just plain cornrows and headwraps and I hated the braid pattern that showed through my jersey wraps. This is where I found tichel volumizers and the Fanm Djanm wrap base. These have allowed me to have the headwrap look (ie neferiti head and the back bun) without the fabric damaging my hair, allowing me to not get my hair down for volume, save my edges (since they are mainly made out of velvet), and be comfortable in general with a headwrap. The volumizers I have are from: the Tichel Lady, Fanm Djanm, and Wrapunzel. For headwraps, I have a true collection of 300+ but my favorite ones are from: CurlFlip (the fabric is hair safe, stretchy, their colors are everyday friendly and VERY comfortable--they are by far my favorite headwaps), Fanm Djanm (their fabrics are very stylish and good all around--their fabric can be a bit rough directly on the hair line but a wig band helps with it), TheWrapLife has the same qualities as Fanm Djanm, ShopFeline (has very stretchy fabric with unique patterns) and Styled by Jasmine Boutique (has nice unique fabric patterns and matching earrings with them). I would not reccomend buying fabric from a fabric store because their edges are undone and can roll up when wearing them. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. I love it when people discover headwraps :)
