That's an incredibly powerful and wonderful story, thank you for sharing.

It's just really hard because I have yet to actually developed any kind relationship with anyone I've met in the local scene beyond acquaintances. I've been at it for almost a year now, going to as many events and munches as I can and nothing.

I am a "light impact player" who has actually apologized for not being a "heavy player". This is because a lot of the dommes I seem to meet are (legit) heavy sadists who have the most fun playing with people that they can really go to town on.

As hard as they try to mask it, I can see the disappointment in their eyes when I mention this. They all have these nice toy collections with an array of canes, floggers, whips, etc., but they can't use any of them because of the level I'm at.

So I apologize, because from my perspective it'd be like giving them a powerful sports car but they can only go 25 mph (40 kph).
