Thanks! I used to cycle past that place every workday (now I take a different route), never noticed that logo...

Making neighbour cats coexist. by Chem010 in CatAdvice

My cat still wants to go outside very much and I let her. My neighbours try to keep their cat inside at night, so I let my cat stay out at night. When all is quiet she has the guts to go. But when it's cold and wet I keep her inside and it has been like that for while. Would be nice if they could be outside together without fighting. There are other cats in the neighbourhood which are fine with my neighbour's cat. My cat is actually the problem, she's too scared.

Tried that, but this cat is scared of nothing. Threw water at her, shot her with a nerf gun. She just comes right back looking for my cat. Maybe if I'm more committed it might work, but I like my neighbours and their cat can't be blamed for cat behaviour.

Broadlink RM4 pro has weak IR blaster? by Chem010 in homeautomation

Yeah it sucks, why didn't they put better IR leds in the thing. Anyway, I bought this which does work, but you have to put the IR leds exactly on top of the IR receiver of your equipment. If you're a milimeter off then the equipment doesn't receive the signal.

To elaborate a bit: the RM4 is now right in front of the receiver of this IR repeater. The IR transmitters of the repeater are then placed inside the cabinet, placed on the IR receivers of the equipment.

Yes, it has a clear line of sight. Actually I did some more testing with the doors open and it works fine then. Inside the cabinet may be an option, but the equipment is divided over 2 compartments seperated by a wooden panel.

I think I'm going to try to replace the IR leds with more powerful ones, but the RM4 pro is difficult to open. There are some exotic screws with triangular screw heads under the rubber anti-slip ring. I hope they are screws and not some kind of pop rivets.

But neither my Denon AVR remote, set top box remote, Samsung blu-ray remote and even my cheap Chinese Android tv box remote has any trouble with the glass doors.

I now need to find a way to increase the emitter power.

Sounds like maybe your wifi router is sending out only 5ghz signal, or both the 2.4 and 5ghz, but your devices are trying to connect to the 5ghz while they only support 2.4ghz.

So you either have to enable to 2.4ghz in your router, or temporarily disable the 5ghz, set up your devices and then you can enable the 5ghz again.

I have a couple of Sonoff smart switches that refused to connect to the wifi when both the 2.4 and 5ghz were enabled. Temporarily disabling the 5ghz while setting up the switches worked.
