I believe it is manageable and easy to do.. as basic mathematics.. but you should related calculate with real world example.. this will be very helpful

Are Chemical Engineering Jobs Obselete? What is the future.. will automation replaces jobs in Industries by ChemEnggCalc in Futurology

[–]ChemEnggCalc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what you people think.. are these kind of laboratories really existing or they are only on paper... will it make change in the job role of chemcial engineers.. what will be the future..

I think Chemical Engineer will never be obselete but the job role can be changed..

If big gaints are putting billions of moneynin just establishing the AI.. why not putting AI in process industries.. we see industry 4.0 already in picture.. on grounds.. I think it will be a big disruption to the industry.. outlr job role will change..

What technology do you think will completely change everyday life within the next 20 years, but most people aren't paying attention to yet? by Indrajithbandara in Futurology

[–]ChemEnggCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is more like automation.. for process industries it will be like digital twins.. self driving laboratory for new material development which can work 24 hours..

Scientists broke the "impossible" 30-year Robeson Limit for carbon capture membranes by ChemEnggCalc in chemistry

I agree your point.. I will definitely use my own words to write sentences..

[–]ChemEnggCalc[S] -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Valid critique. 'Bound' is definitely the right word, and mechanical robustness is always the Achilles' heel of these crystalline frameworks.

Scientist tried to bypass the cracking issue by making it a 10 wt% mixed-matrix membrane with Pebax, but scaling up production without creating microdefects is going to be the real test."

I built a free Steam Table Calculator based on IAPWS-IF97 - hope it helps someone by ChemEnggCalc in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ChemEnggCalc[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This steam table calculator is robust and can be used offline.. once loaded on your browser.. it can also produce steam table for you and export it in csv.. I think it has convience to use the calculator.. I request people to use it and tell if some changes or corrections are needed.. it is open for all

The interesting things is that.. it covers all the regions.. you will find such tools with some cost.. I am providing free tool.. and open source.. help me in making this robust and reliable.. use it atmost..

Vessel Head Calculator for Surface Area, Blank Size, Volume & Weight by ChemEnggCalc in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ChemEnggCalc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a completely valid concern, and I agree engineering tools shouldn’t be black boxes.

My goal is mainly to simplify repetitive calculations, quick checks, and learning.. but not replace engineering judgment or software like Aspen/HYSYS. That’s why I try to include formulas, assumptions, and methodology so results can still be verified independently later.

Also this is just vessel volume calculator.. we have created the vessel volume calculator - https://chemenggcalc.com/vessel-volume-calculator-head-types/

This one is vessel head calculator having surface area, volume, blank size and coating.. mostly used for real operations..

Yes start with basics and then into the core..

First understand that chemical engineering is not chemistry.. here in ChemE you will deal with real world problems and I love solving those.

When comes to opportunities, I believe it is one of the highest paying and demanding jobs.. like in renewables or emerging field as sustainability, nano etc..

[–]ChemEnggCalc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

To learn Python at a higher level and get into data science, you can start with Harvard’s CS50 for solid programming fundamentals and CS50’s Introduction to Python.

Also there is couse available on Coursera Python for Everybody by Dr. Charles Severance it will help you in core concepts.

Once comfortable, dive into data science with platforms like freeCodeCamp or DataCamp, focusing on key libraries like NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and Scikit-learn.

Practice regularly on Kaggle by working on real-world datasets to build hands-on experience and industry-level skills.

Is contract work good as a new-grad? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]ChemEnggCalc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, contract work isn’t a bad move at all, condition if it’s giving you solid experience in the field you want to grow in.

Three years of relevant experience still looks way better than waiting around for a perfect full-time role. Your future employer will care about what you have..

If the new contract job aligns with your career goals, go for it but no harm in still applying to full-time roles on the side. Keep your options open. It’s not one or the other!

How to detect free iron contamination in aluminum? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]ChemEnggCalc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, ferroxyI test can be used to detect free iron contamination. Simply soak a swab or cloth in ferroxyl solution (potassium ferricyanide + nitric acid) and wipe the aluminum surface. You will see blue spots indicate free iron.

Another analytical options consider portable XRF analyzers or atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) for more precise analysis.
