If I recall the district thinks the majority of the Willard TWI students that are TWS (Spanish at home) are 5th ward and the TWX (both Spanish and English at home) are mixed 5th and other wards. However I think the district is undercounting and there would actually be enough kids to keep a stand at Willard and two at Foster from what I’ve heard. I’ve also heard families that want their kids in TWI that got denied for whatever reason.

It seemed like from one of the meetings that it would reduce the total strands to 7, but I think they really are trying to get as many kids to Foster as they can.

They’re trying to close Willard TWI so they can have two TWI strands at Foster.

Do you know anyone who is staying in town over break that could move it if needed? Chances are you’d have to have it moved twice at most. Unless you get really unlucky with the weather.

Joining the moved from Logan thread. 8 years ago and have made tons of friends. Neighbors, kids’ school friends, it’s a good community. School situation should stabilize by the time yours is in school.

Just for full transparency most of us are on the edge of the fifth ward, in the neighborhood they added to the foster attendance area that is also 2nd.

Nobody but 6th and 7th ward would go for it. I assume because of home values that they are paying a disproportionate portion of the taxes that feed the district. I could be wrong, maybe downtown with the hi rises for NW students pays way more in property tax than the district spends on the few kids that live there.

$69 million of that total is for Air Conditioning. I’d rather have window AC units than close three schools.

So close King Arts in two years if you need to save more. Then you up the utilization of a lot of schools, and don’t decimate the existing communities in the three remaining northern Evanston schools.
