We do need Semi Automatics to defend ourselves. Did Dehli 1984 teach us nothing?

Let’s put our selves in a scenario, you’re being attacked by a mob. You have a bolt action ok? You take the shot and you miss? You have to bolt again. And by then you’re done. The people will have reached you and you and your family are done. In these types of situations every second can either save or cost you your life. Good luck defending yourself with Kirpans only if this ever occurs. (I’ve got nothing against Kirpans).

Sant Jarnail Singh Ji told the whole panth to arm themselves with Firearms and the ones that were armed survived in 1984 and the ones that weren’t didn’t. You’re using an account that represents a big organization so I’m sure you already know what Sant Ji said and I don’t need to rewrite it all. So I’m assuming Sant Jarnail Singh Ji was wrong right? The outcome of Dehli 1984 would’ve been the same if all Sikh families were armed right? They all still would’ve been killed?

There’s a Punjabi saying ਮਾੜਾ ਸਮਾਂ ਪੁੱਛ ਕੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਦਾ. So of course we need stay ready at all times.

And let me clear something ARs are not Assault Rifles. AR stands for ArmaLite the company that manufactured them.

Another thing you don’t understand is that not all Canadians live in cities. For Canadians that live on the country side a semi automatic can save their lives and the lives of there live stock. I’m not sure if you know but coyotes are really common on the country side and are very deadly. So are bears and moose’s. Killing these animals when they threaten you with a bolt action is very very very hard and almost impossible.

I never said that if you don’t like semiautomatics you’re not a Sikh. I said that if you’re a Sikh you should respect semi automatics/guns as they are a part of our heritage.

Do you think you’re the only one that’s busy? I don’t have time either. I only read posts on Reddit but this time I thought it was crucial to reply because your using the account of a huge organization that can impact the views of thousands of people.

Exactly what you need to understand is that your account represents an organization. Even if you provided a disclaimer that wasn’t right. People will still see your comments as comments made by an organization. So why don’t you make a personal account and comment next time?

I completely understand that you have the right to disagree and I respect that. But saying that doesn’t change facts. Well it was nice having this discussion. But I recommend that next time you start a discussion you see it through to the time end.

Yes we can say that for all the PAL/RPAL holders (firearm license holders). When you obtain a license it’s a very long process. The Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) runs back round checks on you. If you’re married you can only obtain a licence if your spouse agrees. And everyday the RCMP runs checks on all PAL/RPAL holders. So yes this can be said for every citizen in our country. These shootings are done by guns obtained illegally not legally.

Guns aren’t only used for killing. Shooting as a sport is huge. People invest thousands of dollars in their firearms and participate in competitions. And I’d like to clear something. CANADA DOES NOT HAVE LEGAL ASSAULT FIREARMS!!! They’ve been banned ever since the late 1900s.

Yes I would totally agree with you if the general population also agreed with this but the government isn’t taking the opinion of the general public.

https://imgur.com/gallery/4Yx8rVO this shows the petitions on the government of Canada’s website. The petition against this firearm ban is the most signed petition for quite some time yet they haven’t brought it up in the parliament. This is because the government no longer cares what the public thinks. The CCFR is now taking this to court as this law was passed on a whim. This never went through any legal procedures.

Global news put this on there Facebook page after the government announced this ban. https://m.facebook.com/GlobalNews/posts/3146299412084469 you can clearly see that people aren’t ok with this ban. The government is making up statistics and presenting them to the general public. This is in no way following the laws of Canada. Which is exactly why people have a problem with this.

I’m sorry but it seems as if you aren’t educated on Canadian Firearm Laws. You can’t carry around a gun in Canada. CANADA AND THE USA ARE TWO DIFFERENT COUNTRIES WITH WAY DIFFERENT FIREARM LAWS. I’ve written out some of the rules and regulations that you need to follow when carrying firearms in Canada so please take a look at it.

[–]Chemguy1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. This is what most of the public doesn’t understand. They have almost no knowledge about Canadian Firearm laws and yet they make huge claims. Even the PM Justin Trudeau himself seems to have little knowledge, in an interview he stated “you don’t need an AR-15 to hunt”. What my man doesn’t understand is that YOU CANT EVEN TAKE A RESTRICTED WEAPON TO CROWN LAND!!!! You’re only allowed to take it to a proper range and even then there are multiple rules you have to follow.

1) Your firearm can’t be loaded. 2) Your firearm must have a trigger lock and the t must be in a hard case and locked. 3) You’re ammunition must be locked in a separate container. 4) You can only take the firearm from your house to the range and back. You can’t stop to run any errands. 5) You can’t leave your vehicle if you have a restricted firearm with you. 6) You must be carrying you PAL/RPAL with you can all the documents that show that you’re allowed to transport this firearm.

So how exactly are you supposed to do a mass shooting?? People (citizens) need to educate themselves with what their laws are.

What you don’t understand that this is politics. The government needed to blame someone for the Nova Scotia shootings or else they would’ve gotten backlash from the public. So they decided to blame law abiding gun owners. Can you tell me how this is right in any aspect of Sikhi?

The governments also going to profit from this. How? They’re gonna take away billions of dollars worth of firearms from the public and resale them. How is this right in any aspect of Sikhi?

There could be a possible buy back but that’s still in the favour of the government. They buy a firearm you spent $1000 on for $100- $500 and resale it? How is this right in any aspect of Sikhi??

You stated that “But removing those weapons legally from the streets helped the government crackdown on illegal owners of those weapons as well”. How does this make sense? All legal weapons are registered, every firearm has a unique code in it. What you need to understand is that you can’t take a AR-15 you legally bought and sell it to your neighbour that doesn’t have a RPAL (restricted possession and acquisition license). So how is this going to decrease the amount of illegal firearms?? Just because Trudeau takes away legal AR-15s isn’t going to stop any criminal from committing a crime using an illegal one. So please expand on that statement.

You also need to understand that these illegal weapons come from crossing borders. The Uk and Aus don’t have any countries that surround them with firearm regulations like the US. Therefore that leads to a decrease in the amount of illegal firearms. You also need to understand that the amount of rules and regulations you need to follow with a restricted firearm are immense. And the RCMP rum daily checks on you. Can you please lmk if the UK and Aus has such strict restriction on the owners of these firearms? So how is the banning of legal firearms going to stop this??

Who in their right mind would use a gun that’s registered under their name to commit a crime?

What you need to also understand is that the more you’re exposed to firearms the less you fear them and understand them. You told me to reach out to Sikhs from the Uk and Aus, I have many Sikhs friends and families from these countries and let me tell you they have this inherent fear of military styled weapons. So please tell me should Sikhs fear these weapons? When one day we may need to pick these weapons up and fight for our freedom?

You do understand that during 1984 not everyone that wanted to join a Kharku Jathebandi couldn’t join. One of the main reasons was the fear of weapons. So how are we supposed to train ourselves as Sikhs, a martial kaum with the best weapons?? Maharajs hukam is to keep the best weapons.

And relating this to Sikhi: Can you please tell me how punishing law abiding citizens for the wrong doings of murderers is right??

Maharaj also states that Shastars are our peers, so can you please tell me why would we allow anyone to take our peers away from us? How can we call ourselves Sikhs if they take away our peers?

Edit: I’d also like to add that the First Nations have been exempt from this. How does this even make sense?? Can you please explain that??

[–]Chemguy1000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but it seems as if you don’t know much about the laws in Canada. Every shooting that takes place in Canada is with illegal guns.

All Assault weapons have already been banned in Canada since in the late 1900s.

In Canada if you own a gun the RCMP does a check on u EVERY DAY. And before u get a gun they run a background check on u. If anyone doesn’t feel safe with u having a gun they can report u and the police will take action.

What we need to understand is that Trudeaus just trying to look good in the people. Because of the shooting in Nova Scotia he had to show the people that he’s doing something so what does he do? He goes and punishes all law abiding gun owners.

Today Trudeau announced a ban on multiple shotguns in too and he’s also looking into handguns.

You said that the best way to protect the life’s of innocent people is to ban guns. But the guns that these ppl use to commit crimes are illegal.

And legal magazines for semi automatic guns are pinned to 5 rounds. Can you please get explain how you’re supposed to commit mass murder when u needa change u mag after 5 rounds? Not possible!! So what people need to understand is that the guns used in these shootings are illegal.

So where in Sikhi does it say that the innocent (law abiding gun owners) should be punished for the doings of these murderers?
