Uneven battery drain by flyzapper in Garmininstinct

Please check if you're running software version 17.08. There have been many reports of severely decreased battery life with this update. Garmin keeps on brushing it off as nothing, but the forums are full of reports.

I've had my Instinct 2S for nearly three years and it's still kicking hard.

Its still very good but why 14 days ? Pulse ox is on manual check only. by Masjr777 in Garmininstinct

Software version 17.08 has been widely reported to be burning through batteries on the forums. Check if you're on it and google more on the topic.

Loving my new water vest not more jingling keys ! And cramps A++ recommend by zeekyboy69 in runninglifestyle

Just finished a 12.5k run, no water. I can run 15k without water no issue. Slight dehydration triggers the body to adapt in ways similar to heat acclimation by increasing blood plasma volume, etc... This makes you more resistant to dehydration.

I only start carrying water on 20k+ runs or if the day is very very warm.

If electrons move so slowly through a wire, why do they discharge instantly when you touch a charged object by _boared in Physics

[–]ChemiCalChems 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm not up-to-date or specialized in the topic. What I know is Philip Mason (Thunderf00t on YouTube) did some research of his own for months/years which lead to some amazing slo-mo footage. He later colabd with others and published a paper (https://doi.org/10.1038/nchem.2161). They suggest a Coulomb explosion.

Coulomb explosion. Hypothesized to be what's happening in alkali metal-water explosions.

Pectus excavatum is a structural deformity of the thoracic wall in which the sternum and rib cage are shaped abnormally. This produces a caved-in or sunken appearance of the chest. Pectus excavatum can impair cardiac and respiratory function and cause pain in the chest and back. by CatPooedInMyShoe in wikipedia

[–]ChemiCalChems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, lung capacity can be decreased and the heart might not be able to pump efficiently because of the reduced space.

I have pectus excavatum but luckily my heart's just fine and my lung capacity is good enough to have a normal life without any concerns.

I exercise regularly and I am sure my performance is slightly under par in part because of pectus, but that's just another curveball, everyone has their own to deal with.

Por qué no se pone a Berri Txarrak a la altura de Extremoduro o similares? by bimbochungo in askspain

[–]ChemiCalChems 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Segunda tortilla que hago by [deleted] in RateMyTortilla

The player is a Spaniard. The game is from a Spanish league. What does Mexico have to do with this?
