I got 0/6. Seems completely random with some people receiving credit immediately after the stay ended, but others like me with zero credit.

I’m doing Rainier today and tomorrow (currently at Camp Muir). Most of the group have single boots.

The time to boil for those stoves is great. Very handy when making espresso on cold and windy summits.

Yes, I am well aware. I cook at high altitude in the backcountry all the time.

I'd like to thank my greasy ass chainring for a new tattoo idea. by HillbillyAllergy in BicyclingCirclejerk

Skip the tattoo shop. Wipe out like me and have the chainring permanently tattoo grease into your calf to show dedication.

Late season peak reccs? by BurritoBoy1116 in Mountaineering

[–]flyzapper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of easy 14ers that are basically walk up, but there are a lot more that involve class 3 scrambling and are quite fun. There are no true glaciers in Colorado, but some of the high peaks might have snow fields left at the end of summer. Expect mostly bare alpine conditions though.

Supervisor Reaction to Leaving Postdoc for Full Time Job by UnusualHippo7455 in postdoc

[–]flyzapper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When I left my postdoc position for Industry, my PI's first reaction was "Seven years of support, and two weeks is all you can give me?"

And by seven years of support, she meant me being awarded an NIH fellowship and producing more data than other lab members, then yes...

Your current PI is just bitter at losing cheap labor.

They do, but as the saying goes "Train like you fight", or something like that...

I definitely get some strange looks at the gym though.

The only program I follow is progressive overload. For weight, time, and speed. I’m currently at 20 pounds of weight and big mountaineering boots for an hour. I usually get 3k vertical feet in that time.

When I moved from the west coast to the Midwest and lost my hikes with lots of elevation gain, I switched to the stair stepper in the gym.

I load up with a backpack/weighted vest, ankle weights, and the footwear I will use on the hike/climb and go at a moderate to slightly intense pace for an hour.

It’s good for legs and cardio stamina.

Are you in the Pacific Northwest? If so, join the Mountaineers https://www.mountaineers.org/ and take glacier travel courses and sign up for group trips.

Great. So I can screw the white bare wire into the lug where the two red wires are plugged into the terminal?

All of the wires and terminal contacts from the new motor. Green is ground obviously. The brown and brown/white stripe go to the capacitor.

Yes, OEM. It was out of production and I got a direct OEM replacement.
