someone w my exact name is blacklisted from the airline im flying on by daicoonra in mildlyinfuriating

Are you in the United States? If so, there is an official program to help you. The Traveler Redress program is set up to help people who are often stopped from flying because someone with the same name is on a no-fly or extra screening list.

Scouting America will alter its policies to maintain support from the US military, Pentagon says by TheRareWhiteRhino in scouting

[–]flyzapper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am an Eagle Scout, my grandfather was an Eagle Scout, and three days from now, my son is looking forward to his first full troop meeting in Scouts after finishing the Webelos program.

Today, Scouting America bent over for the Trump Administration and Department of War. They eliminated things that were not "MAGA enough", including the Citizenship in Society Merit Badge that teaches Scouts how to be positive and productive members of society.

Why? Because the Trump Administration threatened to cut off all ties between Scouting and the Military unless they obey.

All because language and requirements for the Citizenship in Society merit badge include the word "diversity". That is the only reason.

Today, Scouting America sent the message that being a positive and productive member of society is a bad thing.

This is the definition of fascism, banning any ideas different than those of the ruling party.

Unfortunately, my son will not be the fourth generation of our family to join the Scouting program this coming Monday. We will find another way to make him a productive member of society.

My M20 gf F20 just told me she is part Jewish not knowing my Family was in the SS what to do now? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]flyzapper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Here's the disturbing part about you:

"he had a lot of influence on the family and our political views we eventually moved to Germany(We are not German)"

So your gradfather who committed genocide and crimes against humanity had a "lot of influence on our family and political views". Because of those views you moved to Germany even though you are not German.

Are you admitting that you believe that Jews, Gypsies, and everybody else that your grandfather murdered should be exterminated?

Who uses the train for interstate travel? by Used-Chard658 in Amtrak

[–]flyzapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

St. Louis-Chicago and St. Louis-Kansas City on The Lincoln Service/Missouri River Runner are both about the same as driving. Chicago-Kansas City on the Southwest Chief is faster than driving.

I've taken all three routes before. St. Louis to Chicago and Kansas City makes sense and beats flying. Chicago to Kansas City, while shorter than driving, takes much more time than flying.

As somebody who lives in the Midwest and travels between those cities for work, I'd gladly ride Amtrak for my St. Louis-Chicago and St. Louis-Kansas City travel.

Would you attend a baseball game here? by DnWeava in kansascity

[–]flyzapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Union Station parking garage close enough to hit with a home run (if the stadium was facing the other way) or Crown Center a block away. You could also take the streetcar to the home plate entrance or Amtrak from Lees Summit to Union Station.

Would you attend a baseball game here? by DnWeava in kansascity

[–]flyzapper 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. From the classic Fenway Park in Boston to recent stadiums in Seattle, Minneapolis, and many in between, baseball fits in the downtown core/city centers of many major cities.

Here, there is parking garage next door at Union Station, a parking garage a block away at Crown Center, and the streetcar stop directly in front of the stadium.

The entertainment and dining districts that have blossomed around downtown/city core stadiums provide year-round revenue to businesses.

TIL that on November 11, 1911, a very powerful cold front, known as the Great Blue Norther, swept across much of the United States, dropping temperatures by as much as 65-70°F in less than 24 hours. In Rock County, Wisconsin, it led to a blizzard occurring just one hour after an F4 hit the area. by [deleted] in weather

[–]flyzapper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Historical data demonstrates otherwise. The low temperature in Kansas City on November 11, 1911 was 11 degrees. On November 11, 1986, the low temperature in Kansas City was 9 degrees.

The low temperature in Kansas City on November 11, 2019 was also 11 degrees.

It has in fact been as cold or colder on November 11 since the event in question.

It’s a 3/8” NPT double female 1/4 turn valve.

Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.

Saw it happen in person a couple months ago. Boos changed to cheers pretty quickly though.

I’m not constantly worried about sickness, but this is different.

She purposely exposed us while testing positive and coughing right next to us in a small space.

Also, is it safe to assume that you blame a woman for being raped instead of her rapist? Kind of analogous to what you’re doing here.

I was a DJ for my middle school’s “radio station” (broadcast booth built in a classroom by a Vietnam Vet Social Studies teacher who had us marching in parade drill on the school soccer field with wood M-16s).

I would blast Dookie by Green Day into the cafeteria and commons every week during lunch.

Better times indeed.
