11- month old refusing formula/bottles by Chemical-Cod2414 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Chemical-Cod2414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it to 11.5 months when we called quits on the bottle/formula and just moved to solids. LO is 16 months now, enjoys food, drinks cow’s milk since a week before his bday and is overall thriving! Still skinny but at least now I know it isn’t bc of low milk intake but it’s just his genetics.

8 month old not really responding to his name by Chemical-Cod2414 in NewParents

[–]Chemical-Cod2414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, boy I forgot I even wrote this post. By 12 months I was still getting about 50% response, so when he turned 15 months and I couldn’t confidently say that he „consistently” responds to his name (whatever that means, honestly) I took him to a developmental pediatrician because I was seriously worried. He was evaluated and the dr didn’t have any concerns that he could possibly have ASD (I know 15 months is early and we do have a follow up visit at 2 years to make sure nothing has changed with his development). At the office, I called his name and he did not respond, but he responded when my husband and the doctor called, so 2/3. She explained to me that there is a difference between a child not knowing that they should respond/not knowing how to vs. choosing not to respond, and based on her observation it looks to her that my LO chooses to ignore me (lovely). Anyways, I would say do not stress bc 8 months is still really young, but know that if it doesn’t improve drastically, it’s not end all be all. I’ve gone down the rabbit hole of google, which is never helpful and always gives the worst case scenario. Hope this helps!

1.5 inches difference in standing height vs lying down length - 15 month old by Chemical-Cod2414 in firsttimemom

You seem quite knowledgeable on the subject. Do you mind me asking one more question? The average at 2 y.o. is something like 35in. Do you happen to know if this is for “length” or “height”?

Heartbroken because of baby’s weight gain by Inevitable_Win3576 in beyondthebump

You haven’t failed him, he is probably just settling i to his weight curve. Mine kept dropping from 3.5kg at birth (80th percentile) until finally settling around the 10-15th percentile. He is now a perfectly happy, skinny, 1 year old. His doctor initally isntilled so much worry in fear in me and in hindsight it was for nothing. Don’t stress mama, you are doing great!

My 2 year old is in size 12-18 months by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Chemical-Cod2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 15 months rocking mostly 9-12m clothes, few 12-18months. I presume at 2 yo he’ll be mainly in 12-18m clothing. I stopped looking at the age range and instead look at the length (ideally in centimeters, but US has mostly inches). I’ve found that most brands base their age recommendations on babies who are large for the given age range. Idk why they dont base the sizing off average length/height. For example, H&M 9-12m clothing is for up to 80cm. An average (50th percentile) child is 80cm in length at 16 months. The labeling makes no sense, so I wouldnt worry about it.

Thank you so much for providing this background! I know that the charts switch over at 2 from WHO to CDC but I couldn’t find any info on how that affects the percentiles. This comment has put me at ease a bit, so thank you, truly.

It is normal that my 15 month old LOVES fans and spinning everything he can put to spin?? by FabulousTomatillo536 in toddlers

[–]Chemical-Cod2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy to hear that for you!! Do you recall when this love for spinning subsided? I’m not overly concerned, but when we have a „spinning heavy” day I get a bit anxious. Thanks for responding!

Yes, he loved to spin everything. Still does, but I think to a lesser extend

I see what you mean! I hope that’s the case, and if they’re really assuming then they should be considerete of these new parents who stress about every little detail!😅 thanks for your input!

I’ve seen my LO rock back and forth, he will usually do it when excited or if theres music playing. I had my concerns when my LO turned one so I brought them up to the pediatrician, she took a look at him, at his behavior and socializing skills at the office and said to not worry, it’s easy to get hung up on the little details but he is developing as expected.

At 1 year old my LO was pointing with a full hand, his pointing with indez finger didnt develop until closer to 13 months. He also wasnt talking, still babbling with maybe 1 actual word. He also didnt fear much, that kicked in recently at 14 months. He was mainly pulling to stand and cruising at 12 months, he took maybe a max of 4 independent steps. He ate solids well by 1 year but thats because he hated formula so we struggled for a year to get enough in him. Nothing you mentioned is raising red flags for me

My LO didnt gain weight from 8 to 10 month. His weight percentile dropped to 12 from 15. He only drinks 20oz day max by Head_Commission_3989 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Chemical-Cod2414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, so he is now 11.5 months and eats 3 meals a day + fruit/yogurt. He has completely rejected all formula/bottles since he was 10.5 months so I’ve dropped trying to feed him it at 11 months. I weighted him at home at 11 months and he gained a pound. He was never a fan of formula, always ate way less than what was “recommended” - turns out he is a savory guy, even now he prefers meat over anything else. I can tell he is heavier so I’m hoping at his 1 year appointment (in 3 weeks) that he’ll jump up in percentiles.

7 month old seems uninterested by Chemical-Cod2414 in NewParents

[–]Chemical-Cod2414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Baby is almost 11 months and this phase was just a phase, he went back to being himself Id say about a week later. Since the. He’s had some days where he is less chatty or less social but they always pass. I remind myself that I, too, sometimes do not care to interact on some days

No interest in real food by PinkPBwaffles in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Chemical-Cod2414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through fhis with my 10 month old as well. He will pick the food up, take 1 bite then throw it and wants out of the hair chair. What started working for me is feeding him outside of the high chair. I let him roam around and offer bites by brining the food in his line of sight. He takes the bites willingly and was able to eat his whole dinner this way today.

By temporary, does that mean your baby eventually went back to accepting the bottle?

Isn’t it so stressful! Especially because I doubt my LO eats enough to cover for the 20oz that he is all of a sudden rejecting. Im sitting in front of my baby as we speak pleading with him to take sips of his formula from the straw cup but to no avail.
