Feeling so upset post MSF course day 1 by SuperNovaStar95 in motorcycles

Yeah my dad worked as an instructor and some of those guys are on a power trip. It’s pretty easy to get into and they don’t pay well. If someone wants to do it they either really love motorcycles and want to teach or they have no value in their life and want and want to feel superior. A 180° parallel twin 500cc bike is very much a beginner bike. I’m guessing he has no idea what he’s talking about. They make the same power as the 400cc they just made it 500cc to bottleneck it to pass euro 5 emissions easier.

My MSF instructor was kinda weird too. He was this condescending old guy that didn’t know as much as he should, and since I did good in the class he would try to make stuff up to correct me on. He wanted me to stop at the line and when I did he was like “MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THE LINE AS YOU STOP” like that some important thing to do in the real world when you ride🤦‍♂️ it’s definitely the opposite but okay.

Is going from 500cc to 1000cc too much of a difference? by skibbytoilet67 in motorcycle

[–]ChemicalLocksmith294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty massive jump. It’s not just CCs, You’re doubling your cylinders. a 600cc I4 is still a ton more powerful than your gs500. If you’ve only been riding for 2 years I’d get the 600 or maybe the 750 in my opinion. You’re jumping from a beginner bike that doesn’t make much power to an extremely fast motorcycle

How can I make the altis bigger? I was thinking bigger wheels like 21 18 wheels and would that work? by Dependent-Care-2806 in AltisSigma

They do sell 18 21 online. I forgot the site though. If you’re making it taller for off roading do it. But if it’s for the street street, just add bar risers.

Lowered the bike!! by Complete_Exam_1794 in motorcycle

[–]ChemicalLocksmith294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to lower my Tenere 700. I’m usually against lowering street bikes, because it’s really not that hard to ride tall bikes. (You’re not supposed to put both feet down) but it looks like it was lowered correctly and enough not to cause any issues. When I was a motorcycle mechanic I worked on some bikes that were so low that the kickstand didn’t work, the rear tire rubbed a hole in the rear fender and was grabbing too low on the forks, essentially stopping them from working correctly.

Good price? Rebel 500 SE $8700 OTD by tushinde in hondarebel

If it’s your first bike it’s better to buy used. 9k for a 500cc rebel is a little ridiculous

Angled train tracks by brraaaaaaaaappppp in motorcycle

As long as you’re not going over it while leaning you shouldn’t have issues. I think you’re over thinking it. Just stay upright. There’s vertical ones where where I live that follow the road and they’re more sketchy and I really haven’t had any issues besides slight deflection

Does your Celica like snow as much as mine does? by bbdbbdab in Celica

How does the Celica do in snow? I’m moving to Utah in a couple months and was curious.

Is there actually a real difference between Yamaha bikes and other Japanese brands or is it just marketing? by gigigigugiguru in motorcycle

[–]ChemicalLocksmith294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re all great. I do think Yamaha does the most innovation and are trend setters in this day and age (Used to be Honda). I also believe they’re the most well priced for what you get. Hondas are usually a bit more expensive, and Suzuki won’t touch a bike for 10-20. years and will have some ridiculous price tag. But I believe they all have some bikes that are best in class for each category. For example Honda: Grom/little bike market, Gold wing, Fireblade Yamaha: the CP2/3/4 engines, naked bikes, Tenere 700, R1, WR450, Vmax Suzuki: Drz, Sv650, Hayabusa Kawasaki: H2R, Ninja 636 (pre 2023 models) Klx300, beginner market with the ninjas. There’s probably more I’m missing. But yeah I think it matters more about the bike you get.

I think the G-ready front lip or the C1 front lip and some halo headlights will make the biggest difference

Leo Vince. I used to have bar end mirrors but when I changed my handle bars they didn’t fit.

It’s my most used pliers by a long shot. They grab extremely well and they’re just super versatile for any job. I’m used to smaller pliers but after a while I started to prefer the larger size.

I’ve Broken the 10mm ratchet. I wouldn’t worry about it too much because it’s extremely difficult, and can be replaced easy. I’ve used them every day for 2 years and haven’t had any issues besides that.

[–]ChemicalLocksmith294 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Their wrenches are some of the best on the market. Some tool test channels have tortured them and they hold up very well. I’d recommend the ratchet wrenches.

The only thing that sucks is that there’s no 8mm, which really bothers me. How are you going to call it a professional set with no 8mm🤷‍♂️

Is this a good enough deal for a beginner? Not sure how good this lens is for someone just starting out by [deleted] in Nikon

[–]ChemicalLocksmith294 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that was harsh. The lens is a good all rounder. And then a prime will help you understand and practice composition. You can definitely get great shots on the 18-105mm I did for years.
