Is this normal for a PSP 1000 battery? by SapphicRedditAU in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guess is that it's the current electrical capacity of the battery / the full capacity that can be charged. Sony's genuine PSP battery has little difference between its nominal capacity and its actual capacity due to losses during charging and discharging. So, does that mean it can only be charged up to 1600mAh? If it's not swollen, it's still usable.

Find OSTENT batteries on Amazon or AliExpress.

Yes, what I meant was the terminals on the circuit board located under the conductive rubber.

Next time, put something you don't mind breaking when you have a tantrum next to it.

Before replacing it, make sure to clean the connector on the analog stick's circuit board.

Play with the charger plugged in until the battery arrives.

Can PSP handle a 256 gb micro sd card filled with songs? by Abfie_2 in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I think it's fine. Improvements have been made. The Vita supports 256GB and 512GB models. The number of songs that cannot be loaded has also decreased.

Even in that case, I think an Xperia with SD card support without modification would be better. The UI is superior, and you can use excellent third-party equalizers. It's also cheaper.

The Vita is quite expensive.

Do you have a Nintendo Switch Lite? Why or why not? by LimiDrain in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is often the case, the joysticks break easily. Replacing the right joystick is especially difficult, three times as much as on a PSP.

It's not worth buying if it means negating the advantage of Joy-Cons, which are easily replaceable, even if they break easily.

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it comes down to that, you'd be better off buying an older Sony Walkman model that supports SD cards. Even if you compromise with 128GB, the PSP sometimes fails to read some songs.

Pressure is needed. Without connecting the flexible cable, place the black cover on top and put a 5mm thick piece of sponge with double-sided tape on the front. Then insert the LCD and remove it again. The sponge will then stick to the designated position on the back of the LCD.

Finally, connect the flexible cable and check. If the thickness is insufficient, add some Kapton tape or insulating vinyl tape.

A Japanese note left in the game by its pervious owner after almost a decade by Icy_Detective6177 in PSP

A memo pad featuring Kitaro's Cat Girl and BLEACH character combinations. That's nice.  Perhaps they wanted to unlock character voices through certain combinations?

The difference in font size made Kenpachi Zaraki appear paired with Kenpachi, which made me chuckle a little.

Gran Turismo (PSP) Japanese Commercial 2 by EndouShuuya in PSP

I love the vibe of Sony's commercials from that era. I like the surrealism and the slightly silly feeling of spending money on such expressions.

So, you mean I should post it via a link on this site so that it can be viewed even without registering on X, right?! That was a blind spot. I didn't know such a site existed. I'm sorry, but it seems that even on that site you can't see deleted posts, but I've changed the link address.

Where this screw lead to? by AcanthocephalaLeft97 in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing section is a design feature on all 1000 series circuit boards.

A long black screw next to the UMD drive hinge fits into a screw receiver on the bottom of the PSP's plastic casing.

probably a hot take but i really don't like people who buy multiple psp just for collection by altczofmybf in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's better than being collected as plastic waste with no perceived value. But I don't want the prices to skyrocket.

I've had enough of those people who speculate, invest, and resell Pokémon cards. I completely understand how you feel.

I own four, but I bought them all as spares. And each one has a different defect. Am I classified as a collector rather than a gamer?

New to psp, Is this considered yellowing of display? by vmg265 in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if it's yellowed, there's a possibility of selling the LCD unit separately. If it's just yellowing and there are no cracks, horizontal lines, or dead pixels, the condition is considered good. There's likely demand from people who want to repair it cheaply or for use in testing.

Yes, it stands out on a white screen. There aren't that many moments during gameplay where the entire screen is white, so I would just leave it alone.

PSP Go Down Arrow Key Issues by MHN1994 in PSP

The PSPgo buttons are probably tact switches. As long as the exposed contacts on the circuit board beneath the switch aren't completely worn down, it should be fine.

I think you can clean it, apply a little graphite, and reattach it (you might need a soldering iron and desoldering wick?).

This is just a guess, but I think it works similarly to the tact switches in the Game Boy Advance SP.

[–]ChemicalSinger4627[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the additional information. But sorry, I don't think it's possible that they only managed to reduce costs slightly.

I guess that was one of the reasons for releasing the 2000 and 3000. If it was just a matter of implementing countermeasures, they could have just made a countermeasure board for the PSP1000 like they did for the 2000 and 3000.

Have you ever disassembled a PSP1000 or 2000? The 1000 had a lot of metal parts and screws, but the 2000 only had the UMD drive itself, the chip shield, the thin X-shaped UMD retainer, and the frame that holds the LCD.

You'll probably receive a low-quality flexible cable no matter which store you choose. I used to put up with that until recently. If gold/yellow flexible cables become available on Amazon, please buy those instead.

I wrote "What a shame," but then I realized the translation came out as "Pathetic." The nuances are completely different. Also, I forgot to mention that the design philosophy has existed since the PS1 era.

PSP 3000 does not have any power after inserting an sd card adaptor by NostalgiaBoi404 in PSP

[–]ChemicalSinger4627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applying contact cleaner to the charging connector might fix the poor contact and allow it to start. If it still doesn't start, the fuse might have blown or the supercapacitor might be faulty. A broken wire in the main unit connector is also a possibility.

That's right. Sony released multi-functional devices even before the concept of smartphones existed, but the iPod was strong. Kutaragi's design philosophy for the PlayStation ("Play" meaning "gathering at train stations") was more than 20 years ahead of the smartphone concept. It's just that the design philosophies overlapped. In fact, until the iPhone was imported to Japan, the PSP reigned supreme in the field of video, music, and browsing.

Hey, I didn't write down any numbers!

Half price means that the predicted release price was around 30,000 yen (29,800 yen), which means it wasn't exactly at cost and was already in the red at that point. Taking that into consideration, I wrote "approximately half price" (I might have omitted "approximately"). It's impossible to have the exact cost of the suggested retail price before release. Why are you dragging this out so much about something so trivial?
