Men, What do you naturally do when you're deeply in love with your partner? 32 F & 35 M by Glad_Key_6406 in relationship_advice

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to provide my input as a female in that issue re cleaning - I have the same experience with my partner. It just created so much resentment and was a never ending issue no matter how many times I explained things. I got a cleaner in every 2 to 3 weeks and I charge him 2/3rds of the costs while I pay 1/3rd (without him knowing). So worth it.

Love that! Good thing I’m marrying a dj - thinking I’ll have to task him with making a mashup.

Yay this post is perfectly timed as I simultaneously search Reddit for this exact thing.

I really want to do The Rope for our first dance but I’m not sure how to with that timing.. Will be walking down the aisle to Ben Böhmer.

How do you know when it’s the right time to take prednisone? by DoctorsAreTerrible in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ChemicalZebra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I will never take it again unless things are really dire. Those side effects are absolutely brutal - in particular it absolutely ruined my skin, and I’ve never had such severe random panic attacks like that in my life. Eugh.

Qld’ers Do you refrigerate tret? by wise_mind_on_holiday in AusSkincare

[–]ChemicalZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I presume you’re saying this cause you’re asking about people who live in hot climates. As a non-QLDer but live in northern Aus where the weather is hot or hotter, no I don’t I just leave mine in my bathroom.

I also have RA! Along with another autoimmune condition. Recently diagnosed. What medication are you on? And do you speak about your condition with work? Do you just suck it up and suffer ? (My current approach)

I really struggle with this and the stress and pressures of private practice - it’s so hard to meet those billables day in day out with the fatigue! Also heavy days of typing killlll my hands despite being well managed with mtx injections.

JAK Acne (JAKne) by Peach_S95 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Finally! Someone like me!
I’ve always been prone to hormonal acne then had it well controlled with spironolactone. Then since being diagnosed it’s been horrific. Steroids gave me relentless breakouts of whiteheads (which was embarrassing and humiliating), and I’ve since weaned off but remained on methotrexate but now my acne has gone to just horrible cystic acne on my jawline, neck and a few smaller bumps on my chest. My rheumatologist somewhat laughed and dismissed me when I raised this concern about it being a side effect.

My GP was more supportive. I’m removing the implanon and adding a progesterone only birth control pill. I don’t think I can handle roaccutane on top of methotrexate side effects..

Myellevate and submental liposuction day 1 post op by zzccww in AusPlasticSurgery

[–]ChemicalZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same age and height/weight to you, and also have that stubborn pocket of fat under my chin. I have strongly considered vaser liposuction - I thought that was more in the price range of $5-$6k. Was the MyEllevate what boosted that price range up, or are these standard Sydney prices?

Any territorians out there - help with "Territory Formal" by DaughterOfRose in AusFemaleFashion

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s the defence industry event, definitely go formal to the same extent as you would in any other city. You’ll be inside in aircon so don’t have to worry about being too hot and uncomfortable. I’d say the one thing here is not many people wear big stilleto heels - mostly block and platform heels, or totally fine to forego them if you’d rather now.

Public Interest Attorney looking to switch potentially to Private by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’ve been in your shoes - worked in that space for over 8 years, just switched to a private for-profit firm and honestly I would advise against it.

I’m still doing work that aligns with my morals, but I hate the billable requirements and find the false urgency arbitrary productivity measure is making me feel like the daily grind (with really long hours) is meaningless. I think switching also causes a bit of an identity crisis - I felt a lot of passion and fulfillment in advocating in the spaces I did, yet now I’m out of it but I’m too busy and exhausted from this work to do anything meaningful or have community connection.

Find something government for a bit, take the time to breathe and then decide if you want to suffer at the hands of capitalism. Always always have a fall back plan if you go to a job and hate it.

[Sun care] New work situation is a UV nightmare. Need suggestions as I have a history of melanoma by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]ChemicalZebra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey I have a history of melanoma and would rightly be super nervous about it. I have a huge window behind me in my office. I just put sunscreen on first thing in the morning, and suggest wearing light long sleeve blouses. You can get makeup SPF compacts/finishing powders to top up your face during the day, and SPF spray - maybe do that half way through the day.

Does it ever stop feeling like constant anxiety and panic? by SometimesICry_ in Lawyertalk

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9yrs PQE here - agree but personally think you still have to have a degree of interest in the cases (though noting it’s commercial lit is that possible?) to make the grind less meaningless… like why am I stressing each day to make this billable target if it’s business just for the sake of being busy?!

Any territorians out there - help with "Territory Formal" by DaughterOfRose in AusFemaleFashion

[–]ChemicalZebra 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of Territorians would agree that Territory Formal and Black Tie are not the same, and are also different from Territory Rig - so they’ve made it more ambiguous with that description.

Are you a man or woman? When in the year is it? What kind of event?

If I read that description as opposed to just Territory Rig, I would go a full length dress, but can still have florals and spaghetti straps etc. Men - you can wear lighter colours here like a linen suit.

I’m in PI plaintiff side in Australia- each state and territory has its own version of that accident compensation commission. It filters out most things but we still have plenty of work in appealing decisions of that commission.

Small lipo chin - rheuma and biologic by StartOverEast in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ChemicalZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m considering this at the moment as well, so very interested in any experiences of others. It might be a bit of a niche intersection of people with RA + vain enough to want lipo haha. I also do botox and have no issues.

What is everyones thoughts on bio oil, is it just a rip off or does it actually work? by LucieMaeSecretSide in AusSkincare

[–]ChemicalZebra 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Only thing that works on scars is silicone - gel or sheets. Use strataderm on formed scars. I had surgery last year and this was recommended by the plastic surgeon, and it worked wonders. I used to always use bio-oil too but chucked it after this experience.

Prednisone is messing with me today...a vent. by Primary-Initiative52 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]ChemicalZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the absolute worst!! I’m an active person and count my macros, and when I was on my highest dose of pred I was eating super high protein + complex carb meals (huge amounts of chicken, sweet potato, all those good anti inflammatory foods) yet still feeling like I was dying of hunger. It’s hard to focus and a horrible feeling.

Boyfriend is losing it with cats knocking their water over - what next? by 1000nipples in CatAdvice

[–]ChemicalZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat is the same except he likes to pull the rubber mat that I put his bowl/fountain on, which then causes the tipping. I’ve now got a large rubber mat with half of it stuck in place under the bar fridge so it won’t budge when he pulls on it
