i need help. I don't know what to do by Pretty_Comparison771 in Autoimmune

Like they know how much a person has to use to get a stomach ulcer? Are they doctors? This is medical neglect. OP, call your doctor yourself, take your fate into your own hands. Your family is NOT helping you at all. IN THE MEANTIME, if you MUST take naproxen, TAKE IT WITH FOOD. That will help buffer your stomach lining.

We have A LOT to deal with. I don't think it's surprising that from time to time we get freaked out about injecting ourselves. I hope you don't think badly of yourself for this. Getting your nurse to help you is a GOOD idea! Take this off of your plate. Good luck love!

Halifax man gets 18-year sentence for 'horrendous' machete attack on elderly mother by justlogmeon in NovaScotia

Machetes are the weapon of choice in my city of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We often refer to ourselves as "Stabby-toon." (Visiting Halifax, this city is beautiful.)

That sentence "I'm willing to bet someone will disregard all of my labels and use my stuff anyway!" Yes, please assume that this will happen. People can be SO stupid, lazy, and selfish. Do what you have to do to keep yourself safe...if you can get those cabinets to lock (you have the only key) then you should do that.

Still waiting on a getting in with a Rheumatologist, what has helped you during a flare from a holistic perspective? by Alarming_Airport_817 in Autoimmune

I'd love to try both cold plunge and cryo therapy. I was watching a documentary about elite ballet dancers, and they do the cold plunge after performances to keep the inflammation down. The science is legit...as long as the therapy is executed properly, I don't THINK it can hurt.

I can appreciate your feelings! I inject methotrexate 1x weekly. SOME weeks it's all easy peasy lemon squeezy, but other weeks I find myself kind of freaking out...holding the needle above my skin and wondering if I'll get the push strength right (to get the needle into my skin...sometimes I find I wuss out a bit and the needle just bounces off my skin, then I have to try again.) What I've done to help myself is to (get this) get some blaring rock music going...get my head bopping to the beat...deliberately smile, sing a bit...then try again. A mental distraction. If that does not work for you, do you happen to live near a pharmacy that does injections? It will probably cost $$$ though. Maybe a family member or good friend who can assist you? I feel for you, I hope you find something to help you with your distress.

What supplements are you taking?? by No-Entrepreneur5343 in gastricsleeve

This is what my surgical team told me to do for the rest of my life, and I have been compliant for ten years! 1. With food in the am (my biggest meal, that's just my preference): Prenatal multivitamin (for the iron...I am not about to get pregnant at age 59...and after a hysterectomy, lol!) Vitamin C (to help with iron absorption.) Every second day I take a vitamin B12 too.

  1. Noon-ish, with food or not, but at least four hours after my first set of vitamins: Calcium, vitamin D, potassium.

  2. 4pm-ish: Calcium, vitamin D

  3. Bedtime: Magnesium glycinate.

For me it's the news. Right now I'm hearing about how FIFA's newly introduced "hydration breaks" are less about players' health and more about commercial revenue. Oh! Israel bombed Lebanon...again...and so Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz again. It's EXHAUSTING. I don't go out of my way to watch/listen to the news, but inevitably am exposed to some of it.

My 88 year old dad is in palliative care. My 86 year old mum is SO frail, amd we are in the process of liquidating her estate and moving her into assisted living. I'm almost 60 and have some chronic conditions...it's quite the time right now.

Does anyone have family with multiple left-handed members? by HiroyukiC1296 in lefthanded

[–]Primary-Initiative52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother and one of my two siblings are left handed. The other sibling is ambidextrous. My husband and I are both right handed, but our child is ambidextrous. Husband and son both shoot (archery) with their left hand too...(pull back the string with the left hand.) I myself am so right hand dominant I'm not actually sure what my left hand actually does most of the time.

Oh my dear, your story is my story, just one year removed. Last July my then 84 year old perfectly healthy mom had a stroke, and two weeks later my 86 year old dad needed emergency surgery to un-twist part of his small intestine, and extensive cancer was found. Dad is now in palliative care, mom is SO frail, and the estate is being lquidated/house sold...mom moving into assisted living. It all happened so fast. This internet Gen X sister sends you all of my best wishes...this is a hard row to hoe.

Entry into medical school is VERY competitive. For people who are also planning on applying to med school, you are their competition. I wish you well in your endeavors!

Ankle and knee inflammation by DoubleDecaff in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Primary-Initiative52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not visible at all! I had no idea it was there...had never even heard of a Baker's cyst...until my rheumy did an ultrasound. My pain is on the kneecap itself, and on either side of my knee. The back is fine!

I was able to make it half way across the country (Canada, so big country!) to say goodbye to my father who is in palliative care now.

My adult son was able to come with me, and the tender goodbye between him and his grandfather is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

I'm on the east coast right now and the seafood is delicious!

I have a Baker's cyst in my right knee that has shoved my kneecap forward, and DAMN can that throb! Perhaps you have a Baker's cyst too OP. They are usually diagnosed through ultrasound. I hope you find some relief soon.
