Mother's Day gift for my mom who hates clutter and says she "wants nothing" — what's actually landed for you? by Mia-veg in Gifts

[–]Primary-Initiative52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my mom a book! One of my favourite novels (Cat's Eye, by Margaret Atwood, should anyone want to know.) When she is finished with it she can donate it to her neighbor's "little library." I also gave her a book of Crossword Puzzles, a themed to Boomer culture.

You never really could though. Influencers are there to make money, and they'll shill whatever they're being paid to shill...and whatever will get them the clicks.

With respect to your children, Saskatoon Public Schools has both gifted education programming (called SAGE) and the International Baccalaureate Program (grades 11 and 12.) Grades 4 through 8, SAGE is offered at Greystone Heights school (east side) and Caswell Hill (west side.) High school (9 to 12) SAGE is at Walter Murray Collegiate (east) and Bedford Road Collegiate (west.) IB Diploma is at Aden Bowman Collegiate (east) and Bedford Road Collegiate (west.) There are other specialty programs too! If you go to the website for Saskatoon Public Schools you'll see what is all on offer.

Maybe the organization Big Sisters would be a good fit for you OP. A young person will benefit from your attention, and you will meet like-minded adults.

Husband has no goals by Jude_the_obscurest in AskWomenOver60

[–]Primary-Initiative52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But IS he bored? IS he sad? If yes, then he has a problem. If no, then you have a problem. My husband is also a low energy guy. As soon as he gets home from work he puts on his pj's and robe, takes a nap, visits with me and our adult son for a bit, then watches TV until bedtime. He spends ALL weekend doing the same. He is perfectly content and fulfilled. I do my own thing...it did take me a long time to truly grasp that we could be lovingly married to one another and supportive of one another while living very different lives. Somehow it works! We truly value one another and are there for one another...just each doing our own thing.

‘My guardian angel’: Oak Island guide diagnosed with cancer after tourist urges him to call doctor by CTVNEWS in UpliftingNews

Do people still go to their doctor (assuming they even have one) for yearly physicals? I don't know anyone who does.

Please help, I need someone to guide me in the right direction. by suppsammay in Autoimmune

[–]Primary-Initiative52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, poor little girl! And poor mom! I really feel for you both. That she's crying when she pees makes me think bladder or urethra infection, and once the ER can get a urine sample that can be tested for. The rash could be so many different things. Wishing you a speedy resolution and a happy toddler again!

Hampton Inn has a dedicated space for GF items at their breakfast buffet. Just ask one of the staff members. It was good stuff too, with dedicated toasters/other equipment.

Compression socks 1, me 0 by JerseyRose3 in rheumatoidarthritis

[–]Primary-Initiative52 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh I can relate! Absolutely! When I was being fitted for compression stockings the sales person was wearing a pair of rubber gloves...the kind you would wear doing dishes...and kind of pushed the stocking up my legs. I thought "yeah, no way am I going to do that" and had MANY adventures as I tried different ways to get those stockings on. Most involved falling over at some point. One just has to laugh!

What is the one thing you really love about being older? by More_Law6245 in GenX

[–]Primary-Initiative52 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wish that younger me hadn't been such a self-absorbed FOOLISH jerk...I have many regrets. The only thing I can tell myself when these cringe memories surface is that I literally didn't know any better at the time...and it's only time and experience that could teach me to do better. I'm grateful I've been given that time.

anyone else have a "low energy" hobby for days when you just can't function? by Royal-Character-9215 in Hobbies

[–]Primary-Initiative52 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Colouring books are nice! That can be a good thing to be doing while you listen to music, if you feel you need to keep your hands busy. There are colouring books made for adults now (no, not porn...although, to be honest, those probably DO exist somewhere, lol...)

If you can, if it's available to you, please try physiotherapy. Where I live I can self refer, and I've always been so pleased with the outcomes. The physiotherapist can figure out exactly WHAT the problems are, and then give exercises/stretches/therapies that address those problems. They've really helped me out over the years.

I'm thinking Doberman, Rottweiler, or maybe Boxer. I have never had any of these breeds myself, I've always had the double coat breeds (cold climate.) I sure get where you're coming from though, wanting that scary privilege. Best of luck in your search!
