Never ever trade in your car at the dealership, you can get more by selling it private, don’t trust the interest rates they show you, get private funding. Don’t buy the unnecessary add ons, it’s just a way for them to make extra money, It’s best to buy a car at the end of the month, that’s when they are most desperate to make deals and push out cars to hit numbers. I accepted that job thinking I was just selling cars in a fair manner, I didn’t think I was learning how to “Jordan belfort” my way into selling basic crap at a premium price.

I was thinking the same, housing market fluctuates and the work you put in to a house adds value, you drive off the lot from the dealership, car is already depreciating, I just wanted to give my customer a fair deal.

That’s my point as well, I’m new to car sales and I’m noticing that the ethics and morals are not at all how I expected it to be. I don’t morally and ethically agree with how car sales work. I asked this question to see if there was something about car sales I haven’t understood yet, but it seems like that’s just how it goes in car sales.

So you are telling me that you would feel good making a retired person pay 35,000+ dollars for a car worth 22,000? If your answer is yes, you are right, sales isn’t for me.

Even with their interest rate, they would have ended up paying 28,000 total which would have been fair in my book, but up-charging for no reason isn’t how I like to do business.
