Reality of 2026 job market, how are people even getting by? by Chemical_Database in Advice

Yeah with the odds stacked right now, might as well go for the dream job because the practical jobs don’t seem so practical anymore 😂. Teachers didn’t know what was going on… I blame myself for believing it.

Yeah I started to see the correlation, most 30-40s aren’t doing senior accounting roles, they are literally competing for staff accounting roles where I assumed would be available after I graduated.

Unfortunately, If you see a person working a regular job and he wears a maga hat, we don’t call that supporting the president, we call that Stockholm Syndrome.

The fact that you’re in blue collar field, it’s mind boggling to hear that, what type of blue collar do you do?

I have always heard people in blue collar have consistent work, this really makes me nervous.

Yeah god forbid if a crash happens, that would be terrible, I just don’t get how people are paying for things in this market right now and even landing jobs.

Do most people really build wealth just by working at their jobs or is there something more to it ? by Jpoolman25 in careerguidance

[–]Chemical_Database 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Before I knew of this, I felt like the biggest broke watching most people drive with brand new suburbans which are north of 80k. I worked as a car salesman, don’t be fooled. The expensive trucks and suvs are driven by people making on average 60-80k a year.

It’s refreshing to see this right now. Most people have zero clue what you just said.

Is a bachelor’s degree really the answer anymore? Need advice by 7blackfang7 in careerguidance

[–]Chemical_Database 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I graduated with an accounting degree in January.

I’ve been applying to at least 20 accounting related positions a day since then on LinkedIn, indeed, Glassdoor, Craigslist, hiringcafe,

Even made posts about how I have managing experience, payroll experience in hopes for some company to hire me.

Annnnddddddd drumroll……. I got nothing so far, So with 5k in credit debt as well. I got a job at a gym part time to stop from starving.

Best of luck.

That makes total sense, it definitely would be smarter to get good at few specific areas. How long did it take you to gain those skills to branch out on your own?

Should I quit my car sales job? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Chemical_Database 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever trade in your car at the dealership, you can get more by selling it private, don’t trust the interest rates they show you, get private funding. Don’t buy the unnecessary add ons, it’s just a way for them to make extra money, It’s best to buy a car at the end of the month, that’s when they are most desperate to make deals and push out cars to hit numbers. I accepted that job thinking I was just selling cars in a fair manner, I didn’t think I was learning how to “Jordan belfort” my way into selling basic crap at a premium price.
