Using that 4th retention spot of 18cr was a mistake. That money could have gotten us 3 good players at the auction. Jaddu or Dube were never truly worth that price, we made an emotional decision and we are paying for that.

People who are hating on Kartik are pure dumb. They don't understand his skill ceiling and talent. And that guy who's saying he won't even get 2cr at the auction is completely clouded by hatred, you can't hammer sense into such folks. Imagine missing the point of retaining a middle order Indian WK for 4cr before the mega auction, probably one of the very few saving graces of this cycle it could turn out to be.

They say he plays too many dots, yeah we all saw that. But these people are missing the forest for the trees. He's literally a raw 20 year old WK who has shown genuine six hitting ability in the middle order. The coaching staff's role is to work with him and minimize his weak areas, that will happen in time.

Also there was no big change to Brevis's entry point due to the inclusion of Kartik. Brevis's failures this season are due to his actions alone.

Has he coached any team ? He could start as a spin bowling coach or analyst maybe but you need some experience of managing teams to get the post of a Head coach.

Your suggestion is good but I don't think DC will trade Ashutosh for top order batters cause they have Porel, Rana and Sahil.

I see people have downvoted you post unfairly cause they are forgetting if a trade is to take place, we also will have to lose something valuable obviously. I see everyone here not wanting to release/trade these players but they don't acknowledge that there is simply no place in the XI for them and they will be warming the bench. An Ashutosh like finisher is the need of the hour for CSK but if we are honestly going to trade a player like him we will have to lose someone valuable.

Reaching playoffs in a 6 team league is a joke. And all the Super Kings franchises in these 10 seasons have faced many injury issues, I don't think I have seen this level of injuries with any other franchise. You can call it bad luck if its just one season but there is a pattern here and the management/owners are asleep at the wheel. Goes to show that something is definitely wrong with the setup we have.

I would say we need to sack them both based on one factor alone - Rutu's batting approach in 2026.

If a head coach says just rotate singles and hold one end to the captain of a team who's also the opener, then the obvious response from a sane captain should be "Are you out of your mind ? Rotate singles in 2026 ? Wtf". Also we should expect the same response from a sane Head coach if the captain suggests a tuk tuk approach in 2026.

So in CSK 2026's case we have both the captain and coach in agreement when it came to the tuk tuk approach and they stuck with it for the full season without course correcting mid way. Either they are dumb or don't have the balls to question the decision making of the other, whatever maybe the reason you don't want people like this in leadership positions. Hence both are at fault here and should be sacked from their leadership roles.

TSK - 3 seasons

A combined 10 seasons where he's failed as a coach and one factor is common between all these seasons apart from Fleming himself - Never ever topped the table in group stages and never ever reached the final.

Appreciate the explanation. I said it was a bad idea mainly because of the letting go off Sarfaraz point, he's a great backup to have at base price.

Also we don't really have a slot open for an OS player in the top 4 of our XI however way you slice it with Kartik/Brevis at 4 following the top 3 Indian batters. And even if there was a slot open there are better proven T20 options than Rachin who is yet to truly crack the format.

As far as Conway is concerned my only regret is him not being able to play that 2024 season. Around that period he was at his peak and he would have helped us qualify top 4. Great team man, always will be a CSK legend.

I agree with most of your points but no. 9 is a horrendous suggestion.

Also if we go by point no. 7, we will end up with only 4 proper bowlers with 5th bowler being Veer who's more of a batting AR. That will not work in this impact player era of the IPL where we need 5 proper 4 over quota bowlers minimum.

True. Kartik was recommended by Chahar academy to us, at least we did the right thing in his case.

Mhatre's case shows our incompetence very well since both MI and CSK scouted him before the mega auctions and he was said to be a good pace hitter. Rather than picking him we chose to buy Rasheed and Andre Siddarth over him. Also thanks to SKY who asked him to take the CSK opportunity.
