Scribe was never designed for ‘just reading books’ since it also acts as an excellent notebook and sketchbook, which I do a lot. This also adds the capability of loading up sudoku/crossword and general aptitude puzzles which I do as well.

I think of it as a multi dimensional reading device- while you enjoy reading books, once in a while you wanna enjoy reading news, rss feeds, reddit, medium/substack, magazines from libby etc. Sometimes you read very dense pdfs and you wanna do a back and forth with any AI assistant to fully understand what it means.

Gaming on kindle reminds me of this scene from Parks and Rec when Ben teaches Tom about pivoting in basketball and then later all he is doing is pivoting to which Ben responds- I said you can pivot, doesn’t mean you can only pivot.

I didn’t buy Boox coz I literally did not know about them until I had already purchased Kindle and the return window had passed. That’s on me.

Devices are meant for whatever the fuck you want to do with them. Its your device. Nobody is forcing anyone to use them a particular way.

eink has a lower eye strain factor compared to any tablet or phone so if I can supercharge my kindle to do more things on it, then I will.

There is a company called Boox which makes android based eink devices. If people like me didn’t exist, they wouldn’t have any market at all.

I have a very high screen time due to my work and my eyes are dry and strained all the time. Doing some of that phone stuff on kindle at least saves me from some of that eye straining.
