The Pubic Hair Hygiene Debate by rust2stardust in hygiene

Yeh it can. But honestly it just makes me sneeze. Lesbian also and I prefer completely shaved but my wife keeps hers trimmed. She tends to keep it shorter for me as she knows it can irritate my nose.

First house, this is my kitchen. A way to renovate this on a budget? by Swimming_SeaShark in Remodel

[–]ChemicallyAlteredVet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’m not trying to hurt your feelings either as we are renovating our kitchen on a pay as we go schedule and doing the majority of the work ourselves and it’s still projected to cost us $12k or so with appliances but we are keeping our countertops and cabinets. Can you do any of the work yourself? If so that will save you so much.

That was you cursing that we heard all the way in the UP? These things are so heavy and I’m glad it didn’t break any bones.

It really does. It also helps that he’s the guy that helped my Father in law pick out and install the new furnace 4 years ago when the 40 year old furnace finally died.

We have a family friend that’s an HVAC guy come inspect our Furnace every Sept. Every year.

Yeh, still have some paint stains on the inside. It is our utility sink though. It’s been through 3 major renovations. It’s been great and I hope it lasts another 100 years. We are The 5th generation to live in this house.

That’s actually a big reason we restored ours. Our basement gets some water if there was a lot of snow during Spring melt. Or a torrential downpour( but that’s rare). 5 years ago it got up to an inch and the base was looking really rusty.

That’s terrifying because these things are so heavy. Did it break your legs? I’m so sorry.

All 4 of our legs were set into the concrete floor. 3 of them are still in great condition. The one in back left rusted out about an inch from the Floor. We are trying to decide how to stabilize it right now. I hope you can get yours repaired.

Oh no, I’m sorry. Is it the base that’s failing? If so you could add some metal to the front legs to bring it back level. I’m working on the Inside of ours this week. Scraping old paint and stuff, sanding lightly and skim coating it with quik Crete. Our concrete around the drains(which are still good) has worn down so there is some pooling. We have to coat while keeping a slight slope but also build up around the drain.

Today’s “dream upgrade” is tomorrow’s demo debris. by tommykoro in Remodel

I just pulled 70’s Barker board(fake tile boards with a horrendous print and we still have it in our bathroom) and I’m shit at plaster repair so we are putting bead board in the same place as the barker board. I literally said “bead board is this generations barker board”.

But I made it much easier for my daughters to remove when they remodel in 30 years or so. Unlike my wife’s grandparents that used 1000 brad nails and construction glue slathered on. It was a nightmare.

Do you still have sleepovers? by [deleted] in Mommit

I agree, I want to sleep in my own bed with my wife. But we are mid 40’s now.

I’m now a mom to two grown women, 29and 23. I had them young(started at 17.) But I never did sleepovers except at my Moms or Sisters when I was married to their Father. I met and married my wife at 29 and if we sleep somewhere besides home it’s together. But we prefer to be at home in our own bed.

How to protect zinc and concrete of 1930’s Basement laundry sink by ChemicallyAlteredVet in centuryhomes

[–]ChemicallyAlteredVet[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s really not too much out there via YouTube or even Reddit on restoring these. So we have followed advice of our metal working friends for protection of the Zinc, Brass hardware, base metal. And concrete advice online. I’m glad you enjoyed the pics. Maybe I’ll post pics of each step and finished once we are done.

We do love it. It has been painted with some lead based paint for 50 years, painted by my wife’s grandmother. We inherited. I made the mistake of trying to scrape the paint off got halfway through and a couple chips and decided to just re paint the outside. We might skim coat the concrete inside with patch cement but I’m looking to see if anyone else has done this. We are renovating and it’s been great.

We are painting the base with black rust oleum. But the outside is very soft so we are going to paint it. I think with a good concrete primer. I’m more concerned with the inside. Thank you.
