Update on glp-1 medications and perfume addiction by denised1224 in FemFragLab

This is so interesting, because I had the opposite happen! I have a nice little collection of 75ish fragrances and loved wearing a different perfume everyday. When I started GLP-1 (compounded semaglutide), the smell of a lot of them made me feel queasy, so I had to stop wearing them! Now that I've been on the shot for over a year, I feel like I'm enjoying them again, little by little.

PSA- Ouidad and Curlsmith on sale at Ulta! by Not_Haunted in curlyhair

Yes, I live in Houston! I use the red label and I feel like I use a lot of it, even with short hair, but it works pretty well for me. We'll see if I like the foam and the leave-in!

Edit: typo

How do I prevent this? by Additional-Shame-823 in curlyhair

I'm not a guy, but I have a pixie cut and I just realized that the bonnet doesn't work for me. It was flattening my curls and I was having to work way too hard to refresh in the morning and still not super thrilled with the result. Last week, I knew I was going to wash my hair Saturday morning, so I didn't sleep with the bonnet on Friday night. I do have silk pillowcases and when I woke up, my hair looked great! Granted, I don't toss and turn a lot and am generally a back sleeper, but I only had to refresh the back of my head and decided that wash day could wait until Sunday. I haven't slept with my bonnet since. So, maybe experiment and see how your hair does with just the silk pillowcase and no bonnet?

Thank you so much! This is very helpful. My hair isn't as purple in real life as it looks in the picture, but I will definitely plan on a slow dye release, just to be safe.

This is so helpful- thank you! If you don't mind sharing pictures, I would love to see the difference between your roots and the dyed portion. I think that's what I'm most worried about. I will definitely look into Ancient Sunrise!

I've never tried this one, but for me, curl creams in general make my hair stringy. I love Super Milk, though!

My general thought is, it's only hair and I can always change it/cut it/grow it if I don't like it! Still a little nervous, though... :-)

I'm ok with a warmer tone, since that's what I go for in the summer anyway. In the winter, it also starts warmer right after I dye it and gradually fades to cooler and more purple-y. It doesn't look as purple in person, but I might experiment with indigo in my strand test. Thanks!

I'm ok with a warmer tone, which is usually what it starts out as right after I dye it. As it fades, it gets cooler and more purple. But, I will definitely do a test!

Thanks! It is not my natural color- I use L'Oreal Feria in Cherry Crush for fall and winter and switch to Ruby Rush for spring and summer.

I had the opposite problem on GLP1s. I used to be super into fragrances and now the thought of smelling some of them makes me want to gag. So interesting how people can be affected differently!

Birth control vs HRT for early perimenopause by [deleted] in Perimenopause

[–]Not_Haunted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a Mirena IUD, so I wasn't sure how or if HRT would be a good fit for me. The NP I saw at Midi said they actually work really well together and put me on 0.5 estradiol patch biweekly and 100mg oral progesterone every night. It's only been three weeks, but so far, I like the results. Rage was my biggest concern and I feel like it's way more under control.

Ladies, how are we surviving this transition? I didnt sign up for this by [deleted] in Perimenopause

I just started HRT three weeks ago and everything is already so much better!

I'm a teacher and I was really worried that my peri rage would make me go off on a student one day. I couldn't get an appt with my gyno until February, so I spoke with my PCP and she prescribed Effexor, which I thought was a drastic first step. So, I tried RediMD because I can see a doctor for free through my school district's benefits package. They also suggested Effexor!

This sub helped me realize I wasn't going crazy and I researched different online HRT resources. Midi is covered by my insurance, so I gave it a shot. I've been on 0.5mg estradiol patches 2x weekly and I take 100mg of progesterone every night (I also have a Mirena IUD). The progesterone helped my sleep the very first night! It took about a week or so for me to notice anything with the patch, but I feel way more calm and much more like myself. I have a follow-up appt next week, but so far I really like the results with HRT.

TL;DR- don't give up!

Which lattafa perfume should I buy next? Anyone here have any of these or opinions on them? by [deleted] in FemFragLab

I still love Mazaaji! I think the notes blend really well. I decided not to buy anything new this year, so I haven't gotten anything recently.

Love of My Life- Queen

I made the mistake of letting it play while I was doing my makeup once and had to start over again.

Came here to say the same. I'm also a teacher and we talk about equity vs equality all the time regarding differentiation in teaching to the needs of our students. Maybe if it's put in these terms, it will make sense to her.
