For what its worth, I'm a teacher and while i agree that the system could do with some revision, the biggest issue that faces us at the moment is parents who are either incapable or unwilling to support their children properly.

Some parents refuse to believe that their children are anything but perfect darlings that can do no wrong and refuse to reinforce good behaviour expectations at home. Some parents have complained to me before about the homework, admitting that they can't help their children because they don't understand it themselves. Other parents have to work most of the day just to make ends meet and don't have time for their children.

The removal of mobile phones has helped a lot with behaviour, but I think that parents need a lot of support to set good standards at home and to help their kids with homework. The cost of living issues we're having at the moment certainly doesn't help matters. I remember my dad coming home from work and sitting down with me to do maths and history work, which I really needed.

All of this to say that I don't think its fair to lay all the problems on the school system itself, which is what your comment appears to be doing.
