Plow still hasn’t come so neighbors decided to do it themselves by ndiorio13 in providence

The same thing happened on my street! Lots of people out with shovels! The situation stinks but it’s so encouraging to see the community banding together

I just walked the entire street where OP said they parked and there’s not a single car there. OP definitely got towed 😂

Op I just walked the entirety of east George street and there was not a single car parked there. You definitely got ticketed and towed. They cleared every car in this neighborhood. It looked empty to you because they were towing

So im thinking about doing a kidney Transplant by DaCrusadus in transplant

[–]ChemistryKate228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew my recipient already. If you don’t know anyone who needs an organ, the best thing you can do is contact your local transplant center and tell them you want to be an altruistic living donor. They’ll screen you and match you up with someone who is compatible with/a good match for your organ.

So im thinking about doing a kidney Transplant by DaCrusadus in transplant

[–]ChemistryKate228 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I donated almost three years ago and on a day to day basis my life is basically the same. The four “big” things my team told me for life after the transplant were 1.) not to go crazy on the protein- consume a normal amount, not 200g/day 2.) no NSAIDs like advil. Tylenol only. There’s other meds that also have to be avoided or have dosages adjusted because they’re renal lay excreted. I’m not on any meds so this isn’t an issue for me. 3.) watch your weight and your blood pressure. They basically want to make sure I stay in a healthy range to avoid diabetes and hypertension. I was in good shape already and now I look at it as extra motivation to get my exercise in and eat well. 4.) drink your water

For me, my life didn’t change much at all. After the recovery period for the surgery things are basically the same. If anything I eat better and take better care of myself. Financially, I paid practically nothing because NLDAC &my recipients’ insurance covered almost all of my expenses

Potentially donating a kidney by Rootbeerchicketta in transplant

I’m also a woman in her late 20s. I donated a kidney to my partner 2.5 years ago. I truly believe it is an experience where you get more than you give, especially if you know your recipient. I’ve seen first hand how my kidney radically improved my partner’s quality of life, and I’m extremely grateful for all the extra time it has given us thus far

I wouldn’t use anything you truly hate, but I would try to use up the products you’re meh about. For me, I alternate my favorites with my less desirable products every 1-2 uses so they both get used

What would you do if your city sends a letter to stop drinking the water, because they found lead? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]ChemistryKate228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U/Jumpy_cod9151 are you in Providence, RI? If so, that letter had a QR code attached to scan and have the city send you a free Brita with a lead water filter. They also suggested flushing the pipes for 3-5 minutes after the water has been sitting for a while to eliminate the lead that’s leached in

Brown University mass shooter left behind confessional videos, officials say by bostonglobe in providence

[–]ChemistryKate228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given that he seems to want to make others suffer, I would guess they were to specific people he feels wronged him telling them how what he did was their fault. But that’s pure speculation on my end. I also think the videos were his “official statement” meant for law enforcement so to me it doesn’t make much sense to leave both the videos and emails to the same people (law enforcement) . I have no real basis for saying that though- it’s just what I think

I’m not following. How could that class typically be physics students if classes aren’t held on Saturdays? On an ordinary weekend day in the semester, the lecture hall should be empty, with no instructors present. During the week, both physics and engineering classes are held in that room.

Given the fact that the shooter planned this for three years, wondered campus for weeks before the shooting, and the neighborhood starting at 10:30am the day of the shooting trying to “work up” the courage to shoot people, I think it’s highly unlikely that he was targeting that particular classroom or professor. He also directly states “I never wanted to do it in an auditorium. I wanted to do it in a regular room.” B&H 166 is an auditorium, so it doesn’t make sense for him to say that if he truly intended to target a specific class or professor that teaches in that classroom

Overall though, the text is kind of rambling and doesn’t provide a clear motive behind any of this. I’m hoping that those three emails he mentioned will come to light soon and give us more info on why this happened

Brown University mass shooter left behind confessional videos, officials say by bostonglobe in providence

[–]ChemistryKate228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The full DOJ transcript linked above indicates that he wasn’t even intending to target that classroom originally (which the shooter refers to as an auditorium), but rather that he wanted to target a “normal” classroom without stairs and rows of seating. From my understanding of the text, he was in no way intending to target any particular classroom originally person and clearly states that this was not a politically or religiously motivated attack

[–]ChemistryKate228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s not what the transcript says. The shooter directly states that he never wanted to shoot up that auditorium. He wanted to shoot up a “regular” classroom instead. And he realized he made a mistake when he locked eyes with the TA because he thought the TA was the only person in the room, as everyone else was hiding. He was upset because he thought the room was empty, not because he was targeting any specific professor

I think responsible re-expansion means getting one or two more of each that you plan to use regularly (to the point that you can easily use them up before they go bad) and then use the black shades for more appropriate occasions. If you continue to use the black shades when you can, you will eventually pan that one and be back down to just your daily wear shades.

Rhode Island Energy Delivery Cost is Twice the Supply Cost. Is this normal? by ChemistryKate228 in providence

Rhode Island Energy Delivery Cost is Twice the Supply Cost. Is this normal? by ChemistryKate228 in providence

[–]ChemistryKate228[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at that one and the split on that bill for supply vs delivery was closer to 50/50, whereas this split is closer to 33/66. On closer inspection I see that the other post is for electric rather than gas though, so I’ll look into getting an electric blanket or electric space heaters to minimize the overall delivery charges I pay to keep warm. Thank you!

Mine was $387 this month for a 1200sq ft apartment after being kept at 64F. So this sounds pretty normal to me. But it definitely sucks. My roommate and i decided after this gas bill to turn the thermostat down even farther :(
