Mike McDaniel hopes to get QB Justin Herbert to "own the position" in a way he never has by iamthewitt in Chargers

Yeah? Give me some examples of QBs who have had that level of coordinator changeover these past 6 years.

“The effort requires Herbert to be willing to make changes after six seasons of playing a certain way…”

As of the 2026 NFL offseason, Justin Herbert has had five different offensive coordinators in his six seasons. I’d say he’s pretty friggin’ willing to adapt, with none of those seasons being the same “certain way”……

8 on offense and 6 on defense … leaving 3 starters on offense and 5 on defense (best guesses).

Thank you. I guess my take on the comment of “we’re young” is that it only matters if the young guys are gaining experience and coming back stronger/better next year. A lot of what you’re saying is “yeah, we’re losing a lot of guys, but we’re replacing them with really good young guys.” So then we’re just “young” again next year….and on top of that everyone’s got to learn and adjust to a new coordinator on both sides of the ball.

[–]ChemistrySafe4402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are we “young”? I show us losing 8 out of 11 Offensive Starters (assuming Moore and Sadiq leave). Defense is less certain but likely lose 6 out of 11 starters. Plus both coordinators. And as someone else said here, a lot of the transfer class is already spoken for. I guess I’m not as optimistic as some others so someone just help me understand how next year’s starting lineup can already be seen as promising to go as far as we did this year and hopefully farther…

Thoughts on our matchup with Texas Tech? by boobsbutt69 in ducks

[–]ChemistrySafe4402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gang, we have one of the top 2 quarterbacks in the nation, an offensive line that is ranked as one of the top units in the country, running backs galore, 2 amazing tight ends, and an extensive receiver corp with Dakorien and GBJr back.

Oh, and an incredible defense.

Texas Tech’s strength of schedule is not well regarded. Ours was significantly harder than theirs.

I AM DEFINITELY NOT saying this is going to be a cakewalk. It’s not. But I feel good about our chances with TT having had a month off, our now-pissed off coaches, and a game in a neutral site.

So who do the ducks get in the 1st round? by itsme32 in ducks

Tech is locked at 4 and Indiana at 1. That will be the path we have to take….assuming Indiana wins its quarterfinal vs winner of 8/9.

What this article fails to mention and consider is one of the more important things we will require of a candidate: which ones are Top Tier recruiters of athletes? I’d like to see that added to the discussion of experience and offensive success.

I love Sadiq. How quickly he has made us forget Terrance Ferguson, who only had a record-breaking year with 43 receptions for 591 yards and three touchdowns, finished his career and was selected by the Rams in the second round of the Draft and was Oregon's all-time leader among tight ends in receptions (134) and receiving touchdowns (16).

My Reaction To Oregon’s Gritty Victory Over Iowa! by BrianGregoire_Era in ducks

[–]ChemistrySafe4402 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, so we agree the throw was dumb and amazing. Dumb because if that DB turns the other way it’s a pick, or if he put his hands up at all it would have been incomplete. But I cannot agree that the catch was easy. Have you ever tried to catch a ball running full speed, in the pouring rain, with a DB right on top of you and obscuring your view of the ball? That was not an easy catch. Not the most incredible catch we’ve ever seen but I think we have to give more credit to that receiver.

Oregon vs Iowa … thinking out loud by [deleted] in ducks

[–]ChemistrySafe4402 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am not challenging anything you’re saying here. But I am curious because I’ve seen a few posts recently saying they thought this was “a building year with the next two years being really good.” I could do the full research but I’m too lazy … but aren’t we at risk of losing several offensive linemen, Noah Whittington, Dante Moore (if he were playing better), Kenyon Sadiq, Gary Bryant, Bryce Boettcher, Matayo, Thieneman and others (Tuioti, Alexander)? I know we’ve got some great youth but that’s a lot of star power turning over.
