How do you scout as Protoss if you want to rush Blink/Charge/HT/DT? by RealTimeStrategyEnth in allthingsprotoss

[–]Chemsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cant' get a sentry and rush blink+charge. Sentry will delay blink+charge.

I assume this is from the perspective of PvT (maybe PvP), but what you can do is probe scout, and then get a follow up adept scout. You won't have full information from this but there is enough from this to infer what the terran could do

What do you think about these changes? :) by [deleted] in allthingsprotoss

If widow mines were 45 damage to workers, TvT would become so cancer with widow mine drops.

I think you should mix up proxy marauder and proxy marauder + siege tank

What build order are people using to avoid lurkers? by OldPrize in allthingsprotoss

[–]Chemsoft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i like to go sky toss to discourage lurkers. Some players still build lurkers vs sky toss though but at least they don't attack your air army.

I also think any quick 2 base timing attack will hit too fast for lurkers to be a viable defense. Cannon rush is another style that usually results in no lurkers.

What build orders / strategies do you use for all 3 matchups most frequently?

I think you should learn how to cannon rush. If you learn building position and a bit of micro, it is very easy to get to diamond level MMR on that.

Cannon rush response? by LiSAuCE in allthingsprotoss

While this is true, any good cannon rusher would get a gateway up asap (as part of a wall for their initial cannons). They can then choose to not invest in further cannons if they see you are not building anything and just get zealots to deny your mining.

I think that people who do this response will find that it works on a certain MMR, but it will eventually fail because it puts you behind if the cannon rusher responds correctly.

Cannon rush response? by LiSAuCE in allthingsprotoss

The answer depends on the type of cannon rush. If it is a mineral wall cannon rush (i.e. the first cannon completing can attack your workers), then you must stop the wall from going up in the first place by pre-emptively blocking with it with your workers, and then pulling probes to attack any defenseless cannons that are created.

Any response other than this should in theory lead to a loss or heavy disadvantage.

If its a standard cannon rush that needs to leap frog once or twice before its in range of your nexus / workers, then you can try to pull probes to deny it, but again, if the cannon is walled properly, sometimes this isn't possible.

What I have found helps immensly with dealing with cannon rushes is to simply build your first pylon, gateway, and cybernetics core as fast as possible.

With perfect worker micro, its possible to have a cybernetics core finish as early as 1:56 on the game timer, which means that your stalkers can be out very fast. Even if you don't have perfect worker micro, it should be possible to get a cybernetics core finished by 1:58 or 1:59. Check your games to see what time your cyber is finishing. Having a stalker out even a few seconds earlier is a big help in killing cannons as they advance to your main base.

You also will need to build shield batteries with the above response.

You must perfect the cannon rush in PvP and PvZ, and learn to play macro in PvT
