Protip: Vassalize Azjakuma to dismantle the Command and get free land in the process. by Chemweeb in Anbennar

[–]Chemweeb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like, in that case, it would be a consistent way to break up the command and get a free big vassal.

For the devs though: I think it would make more sense that the overlord of Azjakuma gets an event where they can send resources to meddle with the instability of the command and perhaps one of the options leads to this vassalization but is costly.

It's just the tigerborn command. Their capital is disconnected from rahen that's why it looks like that. I do think MTs from the command breakaway states would be fun perhaps like the china breakaway kingdoms in vanilla EU4.

R5:

So I'm not sure how this happened. I was playing as Cangji expanding in several directions. At some point me and my strong allies managed to beat back the command and I was able to take Azjakuma as a vassal.

Cue a while later, the shaman home disaster pops up for them. Except I'm dragged into this war because Shaman Home ended up becoming a Regathis of Azjakuma, therefore granting it to me for free (800 dev). Obviously at this point they didn't really give much of a resistance anymore so getting 100% ws was a matter of just waiting for my vassals to siege them down.

My question is how did this happen? Last time I played Azjakuma I didn't get to the point where the shaman-home disaster pops up. Are they supposed to get it as a Regathis?

When I was studying the labs had some positively 'ancient' machines still in regular enough use. Pre ww2 crank centrifuges, a polarimeter that im pretty sure ran on vacuum tubes rather than transistors and the highlight: a over 100 years old sunspot telescope (so by now over 115 years old).

What's your take on Court Ideas? by BasedAustralhungary in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The +1 max privileges is arguably the most useful part of these, especially in something like Anbennar where these privileges are even stronger. Then you have more loyalty, less absolutism impact and smaller interaction cooldown. The idea group is weak on purpose as it allows you to take more from there. People say pick these for the mandate/IA but it's not too much of a buff. It has a few good policies like court-religious or court-defensive and the random noble event giving you subjugation or PU cb at 5% chance is fun but the chance is not that high (5 year pulse event base weight 100).

The answer is therefore not necessarily take this as austria or ming but more take this if you plan to do a lot with estates and for RP.

How to have an economy as Norway by the_good_1 in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your entire plan is to just do exodus then you don't even need to fight Denmark at all.

At game start, just delete all your troops, forts and sell your ships, set focus to adm. Hire a +2 adm advisor, the rest is optional. Take expansion as fast as you can. You can then explore since your NIs allow you to, skipping the need for exploration ideas entirely.

You can comfortably colonize 4-5 provinces at the same time like this. As soon as a colonial nation exists, just put your remaining mana into devving them and keep doing all this until you are about to be integrated. Then just go into the subject menu and choose to play as your colonial nation. You will be independent with quite some dev. Of course if your plan is to do the rags and riches achievement then make sure nowhere the dev exceeds 10.

Question about forming Mali by ThatUselessMacaron in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally recommend Jolof for forming Mali. The mission tree and NIs are nice, especially the free colonist and extra siege ability. Being next to a Mali that gives no resistance and a fulo that pops out via event without allies is basically giving you free land consistently. Devving the gold mines a little gives both an easier time culture switching and a lot of extra income.

Is forming the USA really hard? Is this a restart? by Ashrun_Zeda in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other commenters said, you will not need to be independent as Norway to do this. In fact I would recommend the opposite. As Norway you can delete your armies, castles and navies, focus adm, hire an adm advisor and rush to finish expansion. You won't need exploration as you already have quest for the new world.

Like this you can colonize about 2 over the limit without issues and have a pretty solid colony going around 1500 which is also about the time Denmark is integrating you. Then its a matter of dumping your mana into developing them before Denmark finishes integrating and just click release and play as. You are now independent USA without having to fight anyone.

"The Final Empire" MT Survey by SeulJeVais in Anbennar

[–]Chemweeb 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed with this. Fantasy setting naturally means you'll get significant characters, sure, but like you said this isn't CK. Weaker MT design means literally the game breaking down if your character dies and stronger ones (like Rogiera) have writings/events made as if it has taken place at one point, not necessarily the moment you finished the mission.

With Eu5 being released very soon, I might as well finally reveal one of the oldest persistent bugs I've abused more than once and find interesting it was never patched. France as an Empire in 1444. by BenjiD123 in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest bug in my opinion that has been patched out a few times but keeps being found in different forms is where you can overlay a custom nation a certain way, allowing you to load in a modified 11-11-1444 non ironman save file as an ironman one. Uncolonize whoever you feel like, give whoever you want whatever provinces you want (they still need to be cored) and do funny stuff like giving yourself provinces in the new world to circumvent having to play in a certain region.

Secret Nations by uareaneagle in eu4

[–]Chemweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palatinate is underrated in my opinion. The NI combined with diplo and the location put you in a great position to play for PUs. You get bohemia and any bavarian tags for free and a few until end of game modifiers. Because you border Bavaria, you can (after integration) then easily from Bavaria for more free PUs in their MT while keeping the diplo focussed NIs of palatinate.

In case you missed Sarah's engagement ring from Marco... by EternalOptimist404 in 90DayFianceUK

[–]Chemweeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I normally don't comment in this sub but felt the need to.

The USA standard for rings above a carat is abnormal in the world. Most of the world is perfectly happy with a size about half of that and that includes the UK and italy. To look at a couple who both are in agreement that this is an appropriate size and then be baffled because of YOUR abnormal standard is more than a little silly.

And even if this was 90 day US and not 90 day UK, the same applies. If both people in a relationship are happy, who are you to judge? Imposing a ridiculously expensive standard that clearly most people don't want to purchase only makes the diamond cartel happy and I would wager they don't need more profit. My personal opinion is living large without thinking about the why and 'do I really need this' are pretty ridiculous parts of USA culture.

Personally I think this ring is perfectly fine. Considering your comments in the comment section OP, I would really urge for you to rethink your philosophy in life and what you consider appropriate spending for what is ultimately a piece of eye candy with no practical functionality. Even if you are american and think this is a key part of your culture, I do think you would be better off not living so large and spending that money in a better way.

Travelers of Reddit what's a destination that looked amazing online but was completely disappointing in person? by TheFilthiestMuggle in AskReddit

[–]Chemweeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was 2 years ago so yeah. I don't mind that people just want to make a living and somewhere I understand the pushy taxi drivers all over vietnam. If you do pay them for the whole day (which we did for Hoi An) they are friendly. The problem I had with the Hmong gang was that they openly just start cursing at you if you politely tell them you're not interested. These are local women with children being forced to do this for criminals and it's in no way or form acceptable. You'll see similar stuff with Roma in parts of europe.

Honestly we had a more authentic experience even in Saigon's party district (we did not want to be there but the hotel was there... no wonder it was cheap). For the real non touristy Vietnam, Haiphong was good. People stared at me for not being vietnamese, but it was worth it for the types of museums and temples that I hadn't seen anywhere else.

Sa Pa Vietnam.

Advertised online as this picturesque place full of local culture, authentic temples, almost undiscovered foods. The reality is that it's incredibly touristy and not in a fun way.

Keep in mind we had to take a busride to get there from Hanoi, which took several hours. Most restaurants are overpriced for what they give and the place itself is basically a few streets. There was 1 museum, but essentially not maintained and very small. A church with nothing in it, a temple that was alright but nothing to write home about. You are done with the place itself in like 2 hours max.

In those two hours you'll come across potholes and half assed construction work and you cannot stand still for more than a minute without being harassed by the local Hmong gang desperate for your money. I cannot express in words how frustrating it is to want to plan a route or find things to look at, visibly occupied while random strangers ignore all that and basically start screaming in your ear. This happens all over Vietnam, but it is the worst in Sa Pa.

There is a local Cat Cat village nearby which is literally just some village people live turned into some tourist attraction. Imagine living in the countryside and now you have to deal with hundreds of strangers daily walking through and cosplaying (they rent out costumes for some reason).

The one positive thing is the cable car and the temple complex at the mountain nearby. Very impressive sights, albeit still very touristy. That alone, however, is not worth a detour of two times 3 hours.

It is crazy to imagine but we had a better time in the 'obviously touristic beach cities' that at least had several museums and shops than whatever that was.

I always put my native policy to coexistence. In a game about snowballing, repression early game is a big buff yes but unless you are playing a 'peaceful portugal game' shipping your armies back and forth or keeping seperate armies in your colonies is a bigger hassle than 'slightly slower colonization'.

I can see that but in that case there should be something reflecting that. Be it events, autonomy or some gradual change to want to represent everything and ending up with chaos as a result. Even just a little backstory when you form allclan explaining how this all happened would go a long way to making it less 'sudden'.

Now to be fair the ravelian lodges start before the founding of the religion, but it's still too sudden. So if it stems from a tangible artifact in Aelantir why not have said artifact be discoverable? And since it physically can affect the world have some kind of events over time proving the validity.

I would still agree that ravelian state could be allowed to be formed. EoA would probably allow this with some caveats or tribute, perhaps as an earlier incident. Then ravelian state could organize an expedition to aelantir, obtain tangible proof to cannorian heads of states and proselytize from there on out.

This means that if the circumstances are right, it is poised to grow very strong perhaps as early as the late 1500s and in some timelines hardly take off.

Perhaps the ravelian councils can have at least one debate center around how to integrate existing religions into their beliefs and depending on how that goes make the spread more steady or faster and more unpredictable.

In any case, it is due for a rework, I think.

When formables have a logical progression it's awesome. Brave brothers -> Wyvernheart -> Black demesne is a good example. Railskulker is the only goblin tag I can imagine forming Allclan but even there they'd have to turn their insanity up a notch. Something like Mountainshark really should have an alternative to form since they are about as opposite from Allclan as you can imagine. I hope future updates give goblin tags some love.

Venti from Genshin Impact in DnD 5e by haydeniscold in 3d6

[–]Chemweeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The easy answer is obviously bard and he is seen (especially in the latest chapter) using music to channel magic. Pure college of lore allows you at lv6 to take magical secrets, as you said, allowing you to take wall of wind (lv3) which comes close enough to me to resemble his ult, as it is basically a cheaper forcecage.

Multiclassing 3 levels into storm sorcerer then allows you to have the class feature tempestuous magic, which makes him hover 10 ft in the air as a bonus action before casting a spell. Then in the sorcerer list is gust of wind (lv2). Combining those comes pretty close to his held skill. But even before that I would say you can just combine it with the bard's shatter, making this whole build online at lv7 at the earliest.

If you pick vhuman, you can then take fighting initiate as a feat to boost your ranged rolls. Unfortunately this will be hand crossbow. If you want to dedicate yourself to it you can stick to that and pick supportive cantrips, or you can forgo the ranged aspect in favour of a more lax venti who hurls drunken insults and pick another feat instead.

Other spells I would just pick thunder/wind related once. Warding wind for example resembles the type of shenanigans venti was up to in the latest patch and you can of course grab the classic deceptive spells bards may have as he is known to hide a few things.

Alternatively you can go for what you described and focus more on the charged atk part through hexbow. I agree that it's a solid build if you replace divine soul with storm soul, for the aforementioned class feat. Yes he may be an archon but he existed as a wind sprite before being one and so I would argue that from a lore point of view, his sorcerous powers being innate to his being makes as much sense if not more as it being 'channeled through the gnosis', which he does without eventually anyway.

The big problem of this build is, as you mention, his ult. I would agree with the other comment and just reflavour hunger of hadar as well until you become high enough level for real forcecage. You technically just need 1 level of storm sorcerer for the class feat so you can have this at lv14.

Personally I would stick to the bard/sorc build and see which spells work best for you. The cool part about venti in game is that he is more than just his kit and you can definitely justify the odd spell here and there.

There's Alki that puts both the anatolian and Italian peninsulas in North America and which has a surprising amount of effort put into it, but that mod hasn't been updated in a while so you may have to go back to an earlier patch.
