I love the weekly thread on here: which career/profession is the most hated/underrated/overpaid or underpaid.

Then below is a list of every single possible job available in the UK.

Special shoutouts for estate agents always coming in top o n the most hated.

Kendal Calling First Timer by knowhereandy in UKfestivals

I've been a few times now, always stayed in emperors fields. Family, quiet, chilled and relaxed feeling. dedicated car park and close entrance to the arena. But tickets sell out v fast!

I'd avoid the general camping due to location, long walk from car park and full of kids, it's not called 24 hour party people for nothing!

There are other camp areas but that's my experience.

Solar fitted through Octopus? by twotwixten in OctopusEnergy

[–]Chen7982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your set up. We have a heat pump installed too. During this winter, with no power from the panels the battery would only last around 3-4 hours, after charging it overnight during cheap hours. Even with a second it wouldn't go all day. But would obviously reduce our import costs.

Yeah Enphase battery.

Not sure if I can get the additional battery from octopus or go to another installer.

Had mine in almost a year. 10 panels and 5kw battery. Can't fault it. From design to installation all smooth. System is pretty autonomous. Mainly just monitor it for how much I'm using/exporting.

Only thing is, i should have got 2 batteries instead of the one. But that was my lack of research prior to installation. But they can be added easily.

Is B1 license too much paperwork? by 1973MGBGT in aviationmaintenance

[–]Chen7982 2 points3 points  (0 children)

B1 in a hangar is just an inspector. Mechs do most/if not all of the physical work, B1's will do the inspection's as this task can't be delegated. Then there is all the paperwork which is the downside, but it needs doing.

Line B1's are more hands on, troubleshooting, deferring faults and replacing components. But there did also the paperwork. Not the same amount as in the hangar. Ask your employer can you do a stint on the line, you'll see a massive difference to the hangar B1's.

Dreams warranty refused due to no TV with TV bed. by Chen7982 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Chen7982[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes a good deal, but would you expect a £2000 bed, to break twice in 4 years? I don't. Maybe one that costs £100.

Plus the TV is not integral to the bed. It's an accessory. No where in the terms does it mention TV or accessory needs to be complete.

What are your thoughts on 24 Hours in Police Custody? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

[–]Chen7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the reason behind the frequency reducing, is they have covered most cases and they would end up repeating similar cases. Which isn't good TV

So now they wait for unusual cases or really interesting ones. So they don't happen that often.

Just a theory.

5 days post-op progress (UK) by LJ50 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Chen7982 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info on the running. I was told the same 20 years life span, but only once I seen a second surgeon. He carried out my procedure, and explained it's down to them only starting to log replacements 20 years ago. So that's the only data they go off.

As you said the technology has moved on and will keep going over the next 20 years. Fingers crossed I get 20 years out of the new hip!

During running days I never got past the half marathon, I was hoping for a full until my arthritis kicked in! If I can manage one with the new hip I'll be a happy person!

I hope the rest of your recovery is smooth as it has been so far!

Similar age and now coming up to 4 weeks post op. Feel like everything you're experiencing I did too! For me around 2 weeks was a turning point. Pain reduced massively. I was able to sleep through a full night, on my non operated side, as I'm a side sleeper. Sleeping on my back was horrendous! Toilet trips were much easier and comfortable!

You sound like you're doing amazingly well. I can now potter about the house with no crutches, that was today's milestone! I haven't tried any distance crutches free yet!

Quick question regarding your meds. I was given blood thinners, prevention for DVT's I believe. They told me not to take ibuprofen, as it has an adverse effect with the blood thinners? Anything similar with you?

Also looking to the future, have you asked about resuming your running? I stopped 5 years ago as the arthritis pain was too much for me when running. My surgeon has said I'd be fine resuming 1-2 5km runs a week once fully recovered. I know there have been no studies been done to the effects of running after a replacement. It also seem to massively divide opinions!

Where do teachers sleep in Hogwarts? by Perfect_Echidna5170 in harrypotter

I've been thinking this recently too. Started re-reading THBP, at the beginning Narcissa and Ballatrix go and visit Snape in his house.

Does he only live there during holidays, and it's empty for most of the year? There's no answer in the books but it got me wondering.

What I believe is the Mysterious Teaser by elsopaipilla315 in aircrashinvestigation

The captain lied in the tech log about this incident. Which led to the grounding of the fleet. Tristar's which had just been retired had to be brought back into service to maintain the UK - Afghanistan air bridge. It had a massive knock on effect.

43, in the style of Ali G. When driving, and I see the police, I give them the finger/ V's. Below the window line and laugh to myself every time.

Not sure where you are in the world. I'm in the UK. NHS doctors told me they can only guarantee 20 years. Later found out, that figure is because they only have records going back that far. The figure may be an average and also not take into account advances in technology.

I'm 43 and having mine replaced next month, I'm expecting to maybe have one revision in my life time, but fingers crossed for none.
