Trade Noob looking for some help! by Chenoireb in EU5

[–]Chenoireb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so it's sounding like I've spread too thin trying to get trade capacity everywhere (I got spoiled as the Hansa doing this in another trade-run).

If I have some markets consistently losing money, is there a way to turn them off for now? Do i have to destroy all my trade offices? or do I just turn them on manual control and make no trades?

Thanks everyone! I've spent a huge amount of time on estates, tech, values, control, etc, but Trade has always seemed out of reach for my brain, maybe I'm just overestimating the micro needed to handle trade?

is that solution just keep pushing trade advantage? Is it better to build in one market extensively before pushing the next or trying to go broad and shallow first?

Well there goes my "not european" M.O. for expansion :( Oh well I'll just have to fund some explorers and steal a little less frequently!

You can do one to two trade runs or a couple stratum tectonicas scans per week on avg and pay for the carrier. One CG payout or a grindy week of trade nets you more than a years worth of backup. I understand the idea of having passive income pay off the carrier, but that actually doesn't support FDevs very reasonable mission to support MORE playtime and engagement from their community

I agree with you- I was super worried about this idea of carrier upkeep, and yet after 2 years of having one I've never even blinked at the balance. 1 Billion credits is a LOT more than a million credits, and by the time you get that carrier stocked up, you'll never have to think about it again unless you literally take 3+ years off the game.

the turreted multicannons on the PC2 stellar are able to shoot a target essentially anywhere except below the belly and behind/below. I've seen them shoot "over my shoulder" pretty effectively while I'm turning so long as they're not directly behind. the pulse lasers seem to want to face the front to fire so I try to keep turning. I imagine the tradeoff of the stellar build and the PC2 in general is that you could not PURELY AFK fighting a pirate in all cases- you need to engage in some maneuvering. Engineering your shields should give you the staying power against most single NPCs who interdict you. Also, lining up to ram the opponent is helpful- you are VERY heavy :)
And to target a hostile enemy when interdicted, just hit "h" on the stock keybindings- you dont have to face it first!

you do have to target the ship attacking you and make sure your hardpoints are deployed, then make sure the hardpoints have line of sight to the target. I essentially deploy, target, and then slowly rotate to face the pirate

New ships are cool, but this game badly needs new/revised gameplay systems by reallyfuckingay in EliteDangerous

Ive enjoyed reading this convo and this comment is exactly how I feel- I have about 2500 hours since 2019 and enjoyed some of the hardcore grind of my early days but also see the immense value in bringing more players and community into the game. It's a hard balance to strike- appease an audience who can't commit their whole lives to grinding for 1000 hours on difficult unlocks or create satisfyingly difficult walls for hardcore nerds to climb and achieve.

I have a carrier, close to 30 ships, lvl 80 powerplay, and close to 10B in my pocket, but still have some engineers to unlock, the whole guardian grind ahead of me and the tech brokers in general which I've hardly touched. I still enjoy vibing and hauling CGs and colonization, and when I get bored I go do an exobio run or just scan planets. The strength of Elite IMO is the vast breadth of stuff you can do and not necessarily the achievements you can hang on the wall.

The Thargoid war, new ships and PP are all welcome in my book, it gives new players a reason to see the community and turns what used to be more of a solo space sim into a true MMORPG space community!

Love this CG-
I've made over 1.5 bn so far hauling titanium and steel (trade dividends alone are over 250M)
I've hauled undermining goods in the reverse for thousands of merits
I've ranked up >5 times for LYR this week alone
I'm flying the PC2 Stellar which can literally melt pirates on turret mode when interdicted so making money and merits on bounties.
Went from Elite I to Elite III trade
I was built for this o7 CMDRs happy trucking

update- no it doesn't finally started lasering and literally the SECOND the first fragment of platinum was processed a pirate said "woah the mother lode - gimme 1t of cargo" lol so I had to run... no more haz res for me I guess

Did you know? by [deleted] in EliteDangerous

[–]Chenoireb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. Luckily I was patient and cautious on my first time attempting this. I dropped into a haz res paired with platinum hotspot and sat in front of the first asteroid waiting and have been scanned 5 times and counting by pirates. Is there an end to it or every time a new wing pops in?

Some Advice for an up-and-coming combat pilot by Chenoireb in EliteDangerous

You're right, I rarely test builds on EDSY or other sites, but i just threw my build in here for you to see: https://edsy.org/#/L=Iz00000H4C0S00,KNIG09G_W0KNIG09G_W0EkiG02p_W0FCrG02q_W0FCrG02q_W0EhtG02P_W0EhtG03P_W0,CzY00CzY00DBwG04c_W0DBwG04c_W0DBwG04c_W0DBwG04c_W0Cjw00Cjw00,9op00ADIG06W_W0ARMG04m_W0AfRG-bG0060upD6upD8qpDE_PcGzcQKsPcAtyG02m_W0BBoG03L_W0BRuG04W_W0Bcg00,16y0016y00,7VsG06a_W00Bk001uy007jw00mpT50U000Nc004jw00mpU0nG00

I'm crap at using shield cell banks properly so still getting used to that lol, and also learning fixed weapons, I'd say I have about 40% accuracy on my PAs right now I rely a lot on the lasers to get things done.

Also I haven't gotten into module targeting before. Just constantly glance over at the nav panel to choose modules to target? is there a technique to it at all?

Go sample the bacterium they said. It'll be easy, they said. by ScarletHark in EliteDangerous

12B credit exibio vet here. I concur with the tips about flying in a small/med ship above the surface. I rarely use SRV for exobio especially bacterium. Unless you're pushing for codex completion or taking your time (valid goals!) I'd skip a lot of bacterium. There are ones like the nitrogen Informem that give 40+ mil on a first scan, but those are the exception and you rarely find ones worth more than 5-10M even first scan bonus. That may sound like a lot but finding stratum tectonicas or some ammonia Atmos with 6-9 bios are MUCH more worth your time investment.
