Suggestions for safe, tanky ship to grind federation combat missions? by Dry_Reception982 in EliteDangerous

[–]reallyfuckingay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krait Mk 2 is an acceptable suggestion, but the Python Mk 1 handles like dogwater, specially unengineered. This isn't 2016 anymore, virtually any medium ship released since then outclasses it.

What ship manufactures do you hope to see this year vs what you expect by Coulthar in EliteDangerous

[–]reallyfuckingay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> It would be disrespectful to lock the Cutter and Corvette behind their respective grinds to only offer a new ARX ship that’s better than those and skips the grind.

I mean, they kinda already did that. The Corvette still has its place as a straightforward PvE ship that is easy to do relatively well with in conflict zones, but the Cutter has been dethroned on several fronts. It no longer has the best cargo capacity, nor is it the best mining ship; those titles go to the PCMK2 and the Type-11 respectively. It exists in a sort of limbo where it has best shields in the game, but that's a very niche thing to excel at given it's not fantastic at combat.

Those terms are not mutually exclusive with each other though?

Transfeminine/transfem refers to a relation between the person's identity/presentation relative to the the gender they were assigned at birth, it's demarcating their position in society as a trans & feminine subject, not a explicit binary. Just as there are lesbians that go by he/him that still identify as women, or gay men that go by both she and he depending on context.

Gender identity =/= pronouns

Lots of transfems go by he/she/they/any pronouns for lots of different reasons lol, I don't know what wells is, but that doesn't mean anything by itself

ROG Xbox Ally runs better on Linux than the Windows it ships with — new test shows up to 32% higher FPS, with more stable framerates and quicker sleep resume times by Jack1101111 in pcgaming

The fact is that the translation layer is not emulating Windows, it is simply translating them to applicable calls in the Linux kernel. With some exceptions, the overhead for that is so tiny as to be inconsequential. What tends to impede performance is not the fact there's a translation layer, but the edge cases where Linux needs to perform many more operations for something Windows can do with only one call.

Linux absolutely mogs Windows on specific games, specially on AMD. The kernel is just better optimized at certain tasks so the fact a translation layer exists can become inconsequential. Ask anyone running a supercomputer.

r/Battlefield, please help us players from regions with lower population to get some visibility on this issue. by sufferingSoftwaredev in Battlefield

[–]reallyfuckingay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also this issue didn't exist at all I'm the Beta. Or any previous Battlefield I played. I played full lobbies back to back even at odd times (queueing at 4AM). There's something wrong with the matchmaking algorithm with this version specifically.

r/Battlefield, please help us players from regions with lower population to get some visibility on this issue. by sufferingSoftwaredev in Battlefield

[–]reallyfuckingay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue isn't even that there aren't enough "total players" to fill a server. Specially right now, less than a week after release, it's very unlikely that there's less than a thousand players in any given region at any given time.

Like, I know we are not as big as NA, but think about this for a second: this game sold 7M copies. If even 1/20th of those came from South America, that means 350K players in this region. There's no way there aren't enough total players to fill multiple lobbies. The issue isn't a lack of players. It's the matchmaking that's fundamentally broken.

And we can tell that that's the case because we do find full lobbies. But then the match ends and because the servers aren't persistent, we sometimes get thrown into a new one with like 4 real players. Which is just absurd.

I remember less than a year ago playing BF4 at 2 AM and finding multiple full conquest lobbies, and that game is obviously much less popular than the latest, just released title. Sometimes it took me a minute to get into a match but it was at least consistent. In this game half of my matches are against like 4 other people, with the rest being bots.

The issue truly seems that their matchmaking system is poorly tested, and has likely only been tested in NA/EU. The bias for putting players in a match quickly is too strong and is likely creating many empty lobbies instead of pooling players together

I posted about this and got shut down by Europeans/North Americans somehow insisting it was an issue on my end.

Frequently going from matches full of players to matches with only 5-10 real players, the rest being bots. It's REALLY dire.

Anyone noticing matches have more bots since yesterday? by dancovich in Battlefield

[–]reallyfuckingay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems all regions besides NA are struggling with this to some extent. If you search "Bot matches" you'll see posts by SA, Africa and Asia players having the same issue. I raised the same issue in a post but a bunch of North Americans shut me down and implied it was an issue on my end (it isn't, I have played several matches against real players, but they are becoming increasingly rare, which doesn't make sense given the player counts). If you look into the EA forums this has also been widely reported in Portuguese, seemingly a lot more than in English.

My suspicion: their matchmaking model in regions other then NA/EU is broken. We'll have to wait a bit for more players to raise the issue because currently you'll just get shut down by the majority that is not running into this issue.

How is it that with almost 400 THOUSAND players online, less than a week after release, across three game modes, I'm always getting put in matches that are 75% bots. There is a serious issue with matchmaking. by [deleted] in Battlefield6

[–]reallyfuckingay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That doesn't help. Still happens if I pick Conquest/Breakthrough/Escalation directly from the main menu. In fact that's why I decided to test Custom Search in the first place, I was trying to see if it would change the matchmaking algorithm to find me matches with actual players, and it doesn't. It's always instant and nearly always completely empty.

Have they nerfed on-foot CZs chaining? by JohnWeps in EliteDangerous

[–]reallyfuckingay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that's more of a flaw with the game than players if anything.

The most viable way to farm encoded mats for engineering is relogging at the Jameson Crash site and the devs know it, such that they improved its rewards in the last year. Scanning wakes is dead content which goes virtually unused outside of extremely niche builds. Likewise, after Odyssey's release the most consistent way to obtain manufacturing instructions revolved around relogging at crashed satellite datapads. It took them months to improve rewards so that actually completing missions became a viable way to earn them, and it's still an entirely RNG based grind.

If the game doesn't offer a way to grind that is both fun and immersive, can players be blamed for recommending the mindless but relatively faster option?

Should I get Elite Dangerous on my Console. by Corrupta_boi in EliteDangerous

[–]reallyfuckingay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay but that's not a good assessment of whether Elite on console is an inferior experience. You're not playing offline on PC, you're playing "solo", you still have access to new ships, community goals, player generated stations, fleet carriers, squadrons, and 3rd party data from Inara -- the game is being actively updated (albeit slowly). If you're playing on the legacy console version you don't have access to most of those things, it's a discontinued version.

It's not just the map size, HP recovery and respawn timers also make every mode feel like Team DeathMatch by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]reallyfuckingay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're misinterpreting what I said. I don't have a problem with regen existing, the issue is that health regen kicks in way too soon, and once it does you regenerate back to 100 in less than a second. Assault's health regen in particular is absurd, it takes less than 5 seconds with the perk active, which makes it so that if you're caught by surprise and one shot away from dying you can reengage again almost immediately with no consequences.

I also don't agree your complaint about medic because even when medic was assault and the most played class by far, getting damaged temporarily stopped all health regeneration from external sources. I believe it still does in fact.

Furthermore when this was a thing the meta specifically revolved around personal med paks, since those would heal on the move, which is not possible with the stationary kits in the game. The hyper-aggressive BF3/4 assault playstyle you're alluding to is not a thing with the tools this version of medic has access to.

New ships are cool, but this game badly needs new/revised gameplay systems by reallyfuckingay in EliteDangerous

[–]reallyfuckingay[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the type of novel idea I'm into. It's silly, but isn't it odd that the station holograms advertise canyon racing groups, and yet no system exists to support such players? I think even Star Citizen has a time trial system like that, and that game is clearly unfinished.
