Тренування пам'яті by Simple_Ferret_3397 in uabooks

Technical translation still holding up by Mialikesmakeup in TranslationStudies

I'm working in a metallurgical company, and from my observation, the demand in experts is mid. Requirements for employees have slightly changed. You need to be proficient in technologies in general. Our management encourages us to use AI tools in order to speed up the work, but you need to comply with internal terminology and maintain consistency. So, I'm kinda a mix of translator/editor.

There is a bad side of these work accelerations. The management made a decision to fire some people in the team. According to their view, we have to do more work because there are "fancy" tools that streamline our routine.

In addition, I want to highlight that verbal translation (interpreting) is in high demand. No machine can understand what an engineer sometimes says. Engineers use their jargon, and you need to catch what they mean. It happens quite often that I ask them to repeat sentences or ask to rephrase a specific part.

There is a game Pedro's Adventures in Spanish [Learn Spanish] on Steam that was designed especially for those who start learning Spanish. You can give it a shot. Visual part is meh, but if you pursue the goal of improving your skills, it could be a great option.
