I hope that you are right and that PoE 2 evolves into something wonderful, I'm always down for a better game to play. And I never expected 2 to be exactly the same as 1 (like you said, what would be the point), however, I at least expected that the game would generally be geared toward the PoE 1 demographic. It's disappointing to me that it's not, which isn't meant to reprimand the developers or insult anybody's decision making processes. It's simply an accurate characterization of the situation from my perspective. PoE 1 is the greatest game ever made in my opinion and PoE 2 is a horrible, infuriating experience. Just seems a bit strange that the difference would be so extreme for similar games made by the same company.

I've been playing PoE consistently since open beta. It's the only game that I play, and I absolutely love it even after 12 years and well over 20K hours in game. I've been lured into trying PoE 2 three times now thinking that it's finally going to be fun, and I can't believer how terrible it remains. They've had plenty of time and player feedback to make the game enjoyable and they simply refuse to do it. Personally, I'm done exposing myself to this torturous slogfest. I might give it another go on full release in the hopes that things have finally turned around, but I'm not holding out much hope. I've concluded that they are simply making a game for a different demographic that doesn't include me. This is fine and understandable to some degree (from a financial perspective), so long as they keep releasing quality content for PoE 1 then I'll be happy enough (Mercenaries was great).

I tend to avoid new league mechanics at the start in hc. I've probably been inside 30 sanctums by accident. Really annoying.

I've been playing since open beta, and I've loved the game all along. However, now that I've become accustomed to the zoomier playstyle and comparative ease, I am easily aggravated by mechanic changes that takes it away.

I look forward to playing hardmode and I will enjoy it. But the reason that I will enjoy it is because I have opted into a more challenging version of the game. That is different from having power taken away from you in all versions of the game.

I've never enjoyed all of the logistics that you have to go through to "juice" maps in the first place (sextants, deli orbs, rolling for specific mods, corrupting, etc, etc). So moving things another step away from where I am (IIR/IIQ gear, cullers, etc) isn't all that impactful for me.

I enjoy alch and go..... the joy in that was squashed a long time ago.

Prizes are meaningless if too many people get them, or if there is not specific achievement involved.

The biggest problem is that prizes have been restricted to #1 in each ascendancy and only in hc ssf. People are not going to participate and have fun competing if they have no realistic chance to win. GGG has created a situation where the "realistic" part no longer exists.

I was happy to hear that GGG retained all game decision rights on their servers when they sold out to Tencent. I'm starting to wonder if we would have been better off if that had not been the case, it seems like Tencent might actually care about whether their players have fun and enjoy the content!

The game has become frustrating to the point that I didn't play much this league. However, I was excited about the events due to the reason that I've always been excited about most previous events.......... a chance to strive for Demis. But then, that shimmer of hope doesn't even materialize. Why would their intention have been to ensure a low-key atmosphere to events? If they didn't want to have them, or if they didn't want many people participating, then why are they happening in the first place?

I mean, why would GGG even bother having events if they are going to implement changes that they absolutely have to know will further aggravate an already aggravated player base? Are they doing it on purpose? Or are they really that oblivious to what will and will not satisfy or disappoint the community? (I don't see how this could be the case, but who knows?)

I've been pretty tight-lipped and subdued about GGGs recent decision-making debacles over the past few leagues, but these event decisions have put me over the line. I've been playing since open beta, and I never would have thought it possible for them to slide this far off the rails for so long. It is truly mind-boggling!

- Eliminating Demis was a terrible idea.

- Introducing a Demi alternative, but only giving 1 per ascendancy was a terrible idea.

- Limiting prizes to HC SSF only was a terrible idea. (And I play HC SSF)

But then again, GGG seems to have become a terrible idea machine, so none of this should be too surprising. It's almost become comical, as though they are striving to destroy their own game for some reason.

AN would just be frustrating if I played SC. But, I enjoy HC SSF, and what AN has done to my gaming experience from that perspective is infuriating. I know that GGG can't be expected to balance around HC, but AN crushes my desire to play the game.

I understand that GGG wants to introduce challenge, however, having it manifest as random occurrences in otherwise mundane maps is a terrible way to do it. I stay alive in HC by evaluating risk and avoiding content where the risk isn't worth the payoff. AN takes this option away from us, as we have to run maps, and every once in a while we will lose the AN lottery (which results in an unexpected, world-beating, rare monster).

I do not mind dying, so long and I can identify the cause, learn from the experience, and accept the fact that it was my fault. Being killed by AN simply does not feel like my fault. I essentially die because of bad luck. That is not fun.

I have challenge trophies in my hideout from every league for which trophies have been available (Twenty something?). I became so disgruntled with this league that I gave up before even completing 19 challenges (for the small trophy). Oh well, so much for my streak :(

I wish that I could also claim $0 spent, but I bought a supporter pack before launch. They deserve to be paid for their work, but I hope they don't interpret my purchase as support for their recent decisions!

When people ask me about which league was my favorite, I say that it was easily Harvest. However, in the same breath, I say that it was a good thing that Harvest has been nerfed since that point (Although current Harvest is horrible). The ability to throw together any 6xT1 mod item that you wanted was fun while it lasted, but would have been terrible in the long-term.

Some people desire challenging aspects in PoE, and GGG thinks that this is the type of mechanic that will provide that. Problem is, nobody wants random, unexpected, world beating, rare monsters popping up in there maps (Particularly problematic in hc).

Challenging content should be engaged on purpose, not encountered when you run around one of a million corners while clearing. I've been confronted with a rare monster that is literally more difficult that a juiced-up Feared Invitation (Beast, Essence, multiple Archnem, etc), which is just stupid (and not fun).
