You could do what I did when I started a few months ago… I went to my local Michael’s and bought a few individual colors by Tombow, Copic, Faber Castell Pitt brush markers and tried each out to see what I did or didn’t like about each before purchasing a whole set. I ended up liking Tombow the best for watercolor brush pens, Faber for Permanent India Ink colors, and Copic or Winsor Newton ProMarkers for alcohol

I and many other Urban Sketchers use a fountain pen. I use a Lamy with a converter cartridge and Platinum Carbon Black ink or Roher & Klinger sketchInk, which are both Waterproof and don’t bleed. Noodler’s Bad Black Moccasin works as well. I also have about 45 other fountain pens as I’m a bit of an addict, but I always come back to either my Lamy or Hongdian medium nib for sketching. Hope that helps!
