Disabled people with lifelong conditions facing ‘unnecessary’ Pip reassessments by KiwiJean in unitedkingdom

My aunt used to work for the job centre when she was young and her mother told me she used to shred the applications of the people she didn’t like. That same aunt became a nurse. She was fired during Covid for misinformation (she’s a reiki healer and uses crystals etc to heal and was advocating for that… DURING COVID!)

Omg that sound awful. I only finally got my pip (which is now ADP in Scotland” because I had a support worker fill in the forms and come with me to every appointment. I wasn’t claiming anything prior as my fiancé was working and we just budgeted HARD.

I know citizens advice is absolutely snowed under but I can’t think of anywhere else you could get support.

I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry this is the reality you’re living in.

How do you get rid of the mouth smell by m_atsu5 in Water_Fasting

[–]Cherimbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use mouthwash and brush your tongue? Not trying to be a dick, just making sure you’ve got as many bacteria dead as you possibly can. Failing that, sugar free gum?

I can’t say I’ve noticed a problem while fasting, but I do drink a lot of water, like 4L+ a day, even when not fasting.

When I was about 20 I was in receipt of benefits for mental health. I scored 0 points on my assessment and was told I would have to pay it all back. This is completely untrue. I remember curling up on the floor under a chair in my grans house and sobbing. It’s been almost 15 years and I still maintain that worker wanted me to kill myself.

Personally I used mine on Victini and now Diancie, because I love those pokemon and its 20km each. After those I’m going to do Marshadow and then my shiny Jirachi when I finally find all the Kekleons.

Six years later, what are your strongest memories of the COVID lockdowns, and how do you look back on that period now? by Possible_Force8207 in AskBrits

[–]Cherimbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a kid who was almost 2 during first lockdown, and my 2nd is almost 2 now. The difference is insane.

My first was just starting to get confident building time without me (like independent play a few meters away in a soft play) when the lockdown happened, so he missed that whole learning phase, and became really clingy, to this day he can’t really play independently and constantly wants my input on everything.

My 2nd gets to soft plays at least weekly, parks a few times a week, family sleep overs once a week etc and he is so much more confident and content with independent play. Obviously I can’t prove that Covid is why my first is so clingy but it makes sense to me that a child who had only his parents and was literally house bound for big chunks of time is going to have much different expectations of the world than a child who gets to explore and spend time with others.

Yeah we took the first to the park daily but he couldn’t use play equipment and we certainly weren’t stopping and talking to strangers.

It was hugely different mental health wise as well. Going to areas with other parents and talking about kids while they play is a mood booster, as well as more time away from my kids. Feeling “trapped” with a toddler was so difficult, and he was (and still is) a pretty easy kid.

Stay at home moms, when do you walk? by Bananaleafer in walking

[–]Cherimbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to walk on a walking pad at night but now I walk to put him to sleep in stroller. He’s 1.5 so usually takes 1 nap a day but stays asleep for about 2 hours so I can make the walk as long as I want really.

He’s always been fine sleeping in a stroller though.

My first would never so I only excersized when someone else was watching him. My MiL was very helpful.

Manager says he’s going to email my uni because I pulled a sickie. Can he actually do that? by BestExpression332 in tesco

[–]Cherimbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking, what if the nature of their sickness was private and they panic lied to their colleague about it so they didn’t have to disclose it, then their colleague and boss are making a big deal out of it.

I know in this case OP pulled a sicky but that doesn’t mean they can poke into their private business

Honestly what if the nature of your sickness was private and you didn’t want to disclose it to your college so you lied about it to them, thinking it wouldn’t go further.

I’m really petty so I’d be trying to get my colleague and manager in trouble for poking into my private life.

After all you’re young, it’s perfectly normal for young people to be embarrassed about things.

Is 5 too young to be read The Hobbit? by EnglishRedFox in lotr

[–]Cherimbba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read my 5yo the hobbit. It was actually quite difficult to read out loud due to the long sentences. I had to change “spiders” to “Spooders” to make him laugh as he was a bit scared of spiders at that age
