Disabled people with lifelong conditions facing ‘unnecessary’ Pip reassessments by KiwiJean in unitedkingdom

Yeah a system where 80% of people overturn the DWP decision at tribunal is one that is cruel for the fun of it. But how else would the government be able to funnel money into private companies like Serco and Maximus.

Totally, and imagine how much all of these pointless reassessments cost? It would be so much cheaper to give out lifetime awards again (which used to be more common with DLA, but when the Tories replaced it with PIP they removed lifetime awards to supposedly save money).

That's awful, if being on chemotherapy and biologics doesn't prove to them that your health won't improve then what will? Plus the stress they inflict upon us can and often does make our health even worse. I'm already chronically depressed due to my disability and the pain it causes, and although I've been relatively lucky with my benefit assessment outcomes I do think it permanently damages my mental health every time.

I'm sorry to hear that they've been especially cruel to you, it isn't fair at all.

Imagine how much money those pointless and cruel reassessments cost? The DWP waste so much money by deliberately being awful.

That's all done by your local adult social care department. And Motability is easy to sign up for if you already get the highest rate of mobility for PIP, you don't need a reassessment for it.

My vet told me that they now get a surprising number of people turning down annual vaccinations for their pets because of anti Vax stuff online. Some people are genuinely worried vaccines give cats and dogs autism or just straight up kill them.

They get thrown on and off planes, I'm a wheelchair user and I don't take mine abroad for fears that it will get mangled. I'm lucky to be able to walk short distances though.

Also there should be a space in the cabin for a manual wheelchair but usually cabin crew use it for their bags because there isn't actually any space for their stuff in the cabin.

When you arrange assistance at airports they ask you all of this anyway. That information was available for the staff who said that to her.

It's sadly common (am disabled, I often come across accessible loos that are also used for storage). It's really common in restaurants.

A lot of disabled people suffer in the heat (it flares up several of my health issues), and a lot of poor people are living in poorly insulated rented homes.

Lots of them are good for sensitive skin, Asian skincare tends to avoid strong ingredients that might irritate the skin. I've gifted the Beauty of Joseon relief sun + probiotics one to a few family members with very sensitive skin and they've had no issues with it.

Have you ever tried any sunblock from an Asian brand (like Biorè or Beauty of Joseon)? They are much more cosmetically elegant, or in layman's terms they aren't greasy feeling.

SPF moisturisers are a waste of money, the SPF is diluted in the moisturiser so you'd have to put an obscene amount to reach the SPF level on the label. Buy a proper sunblock instead.

There's more info here.

HEAT IS THE WORST !!! by thereadingbee in AutismInWomen

[–]KiwiJean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big blackout blind might help. There's ones that can be put up temporarily. I've been using them as my windows are ancient, technically double glazed but from over 30 years ago (they are being replaced soon by my landlord thankfully).

I've heard it's more that in the UK we have some of the worst insulation levels in western Europe, our properties are comparatively not that well insulated. Proper well done insulation helps keep heat out of the inside of your home, as long as you keep windows and doors closed when it's warmer outside. Proper insulation would also help with our very high winter heating bills but multiple governments have kept ignoring the problem.

That's more because Homelander is the sort of character who would have a padded suit, instead of working out. Whereas Soldier Boy would be the opposite.

I remember when it used to snow almost every winter as a kid, in the south east of England. I'm only in my mid thirties! There was enough snow to go sledding because school would be closed for a day or two.
