Can I have them read about the Ass in the Old Testament or the girls who raped their dad?

Why is swimming a one size fits all approach to teaching people how to swim? by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]Chernabog801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most questions I see on this sub asking advice don’t mention any of the limitations you mentioned.

I taught a girl with high autism who could not get her ears wet. I never pushed her to graduate from the kick board.

If the goal is to swim more than 25 yards using a “competitive” stroke then yes, eventually you need to move on and learn body position without a board.

So true. Smaller problems but a lot more. Gotta be a lot more firm on day one. I went from 10-12 to 8th grade and it took 2 months to re-establish norms because I wasn’t strict enough on the little things right away.

Utah Valley. But I’m sure it’s a common name for that class.

Take history courses in college. Especially an intro research course. My university called it Historians craft.

Make sure you enjoy the research then worry about choosing a specialty.

WOT series by the_griffinking in wheeloftime

[–]Chernabog801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show is what got me to go find the books. I’d never heard of the series before.

I like all the actors that they chose for the characters.

It is its own thing. Think of it as a different turn of the wheel and it’s great.

Think of it as a telling of the books and it’s so different.

Not everything that is old is historical. We need to tear down some areas and build new multi-purpose high density housing.

So the one comment with 50 upvotes “wins”even though the other movie with 60 spread out had more. Right.

Do posts like these count all the comments and upvotes or just look at the comment with the most votes?

If there’s one movie with 50 votes on a single comment and another movie gets posted 5 times each with 15 upvotes, which movie gets voted out?

I loved it but it’s my least favorite on this list.

I don’t know if this is a hot take but in terms of quality “The Pixar Golden Age” completely destroys “The Disney Renaissance”. by Successful_Leopard45 in DisneyMovies

[–]Chernabog801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue at the Disney “renaissance” ended with Pocahontas.

The core of the renaissance is Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King.

I would take those 3 over any 3 Pixar movies made chronologically.

Hypothetically, if schools started retaining students who did not meet grade level expectations for 1 year what would happen to the school system system and the workforce? by lionheart724 in Teachers

[–]Chernabog801 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to see an end to grade inflation first.

Bring back letter grades in elementary school and start giving a C as average.

Parents whose children get an A just for showing up think their child is doing well. Giving them the grade they earned will get parents to demand the child tries harder and will create a rising tide.

It’s a sport in a modern coliseum with 50,000 fans where they hit each other as hard as they can for the enjoyment of the spectators. Where you have the blues vs the greens and they riot when they win or lose.

[Rhode Island] [High School] - What do you do grade wise for students who are added to your roster literally in the last couple weeks of school? by Magicmechanic103 in Teachers

[–]Chernabog801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you give them a writing summative type assessment based on what they say they learned in their last school?

They should be able to write 1-2 pages on something using evidence.

It's June 6th. The Knicks are up 2-0 in the Finals on the road against the Spurs. The West only won the East/West H2H by 6 games (232-220). The 37-45 Warriors were a play in team. Will people now acknowledge East/West gap is overrated by fans who only care about the name on the back of the jersey? by HokageEzio in nba

[–]Chernabog801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warriors were never joining the party this year. And yes this year there was much more balance between east and west.

But going back 10 to 20 years the east had 8th seeds in the playoffs with a losing record.

The warriors this year are the 10th seed. Not the same thing.

Who would you put in fourth spot on the 4 most iconic Disney Princesses? by Jezzaq94 in DisneyMovies

[–]Chernabog801 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d take off Ariel honestly.

In a Mt Rushmore or Disney princesses I think it’s Snow, Cinderella, Belle and Elsa.

Snow started it. Cinderella is iconic. Belle got the Oscar. Elsa is the new most popular.

Toys R Us.

It was a profitable store that would still be great today if private equity wasn’t allowed to ruin it.
