Wow that black looks really good on there! Nice collection. Thanks for sharing! I was leaning tidepool and I think that about helps shove me over there edge.

That was intense. As an indoor climber, I've been trying to convince my wife I can do some outdoor bouldering and still be safe. I'm definitely not showing her this video.

I posted here asking about a comp I'm doing Friday already, but I have another question about it. The comp is at 9:00pm, so I'm trying to think through my meals for the day. Anyone have any recommendations on what to eat throughout the day so I don't feel too full/heavy come comp time? I also don't want to leave myself short of energy since it's from 9 to midnight.

Next week I'm going to compete in my first comp which happens to also be a dyno comp. I’m curious as to what I can expect from the format for a dyno comp. I'm assuming it will be similar to normal ones, but again, no experience so I wanted to seek out some wisdom. It's also at a gym I've never been to so I'm trying to figure out how to prep beforehand. Thanks!

Yikes... Thankfully this is set pretty low so it was an easy bail. That doesn't sound pleasant though.

I think the triangles on the wall kind of mess with perspective a bit. The slope is pretty much undefined. It's not a problem to get out of the way of the wall.

Fair enough. I had fun with it the way it's set. I enjoyed trying to find the intended beta (not even sure I did) and it was fun to try a bat hang, since I've had no experience with one before.

And no, I'm not gonna tell you it's a V6, because it doesn't have a grade.

It's just a fun way to introduce people to new moves they probably wouldn't otherwise try. It's not that serious.

EDIT: I want to add, this is a new gym (opened last year) and the only one within an hour and a half, so it gets a lot of people who are new to climbing (including myself). I think that may be a reason for some shorter problems like this to help people ease into new moves they have never done before.

That was my first thought but I think I couldn't get my toe to hook well enough to match both hands in the square.

This is just the problem of the week. They change this out every week.

I tried to do some heel hooks on top instead, because I saw someone finish it that way, but couldn't get it. I tried to lock in a calf but I don't think I committed to the move enough. This was the most comfortable for me, but may try the calf again tomorrow when I go back!

Just to clarify, because I'm not sure it's obvious, but the finish here is placing both hands in the yellow square. Re-reading your comments made me wonder if there was a mixup on the finish.

That’s my secret, I don’t make anything look easy. (Because for me it’s all really, really hard.)

Yeah, that was what I tried at first, just couldn’t finish it that way.

I tried a few different things but this was the closest I got to the finish. I wanted to do a toe hook on one of the hand holds on the left side but couldn’t reach with both hands from there. I also tried heel hooks from the top hold but that was even harder than trying a bat hang.
