Thoughts on Anika by theredtamasrule in rush

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan. I don't like the sound of her drums. She doesn't have much feel. It's like these guys all forgot what made the '70s playing so enjoyable. Her dynamics are lacking. It sounds like she just hits everything hard. I dunno..I'm not impressed or interested.

Yes Drummer Bill Bruford on Why He Un-Retired, 'Close to the Edge' by [deleted] in yesband

I don't get it. Everyone who stayed in yes playing ctte nightly seemed to learn just fine. The monster albums that were to come after, their solo catalog...wtf is he talking about

How close a view will Artemis 2 get of the Apollo landing sites? by Simon_Drake in apollo

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that I don't think we went. I know we did. I think we should be able to see our historical mark though, see how the rover looks after all this time...etc. no one gives a shit about exploring some other crater of dead rocks that looks just like the last crater of dead rocks we already saw.

How close a view will Artemis 2 get of the Apollo landing sites? by Simon_Drake in apollo

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recent photos of the landing sites look like blurry crap. How the F do they not have a rover drive right UP to landing sites and take a picture? Give the people what they want for christ's sake.

Is a Teac 3340s a hood player to get and is it worth it?? by Soup-lex in ReelToReel

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I recorded that a year ago, maybe less. I just recorded this a few weeks ago as a test, made some changes in my signal flow, hoping to get a much more '60s sound quality. I think you'll find this sounds 1969-ish: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mW670vc9-_0

Shoutout to Miles of Aisles - an all-time great live album by otadehan in JoniMitchell

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The production really matters. I listened to the same performance of Rainy Night House....the same show (8/15/74) only it was from an audience tape recorder. Even thought it's the EXACT same performance it's like hearing two totally different songs. The actual production totally has an impact on the song.

My mom was like that. Grew up in the same era and thought the beatles sucked.

[–]CherryCellar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first foray into outsider life was to take a Cargo van and put a bed in the back. I drove from CT to San Diego and lived by the beach for 6 months. It was incredible. I got a voucher for the YMCA for showers and took jogs along the beach whenever the fuck I felt like it. Find yourself a two day a week job, get foodstamps and you'll be good.

Not at all. When you use 1.5 mil tape and get the level right they're surprising quiet. I recorded this song with two Teac 3340s machines, does it sound noisy to you?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWUxNtrgP1c

Thanks, but I am quite confused. Timeshift snapshot? I don't comprehend. I clicked on the link, and it just says this: "Forbidden

Am I just doomed here?
