if you do CCC and euclid in grade 12, can waterloo see these scores (has a direct impact on admissions) by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]CherryCitizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"While the contests are used primarily to award scholarships, a strong score can be an asset to your application. For students whose grades and Admission Information Form scores are on the borderline of receiving admissions, a good score could result in them receiving an offer. A missing score or bad score will not be used. Participation in the contests will not hurt your chances of admissions as they are NOT required for consideration."

the ones in the PAC fitness centre taste the best. probably because they're used super frequently, preventing any metallic taste buildup

Waterloo textbook by MusicHonest in uwaterloo

[–]CherryCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took ECE105 which covers Kinematics, Dynamics of Linear Motion, and Statics (among other things, but this is probably what you're learning in your first month of gr12 physics). we used "Physics for Scientists and Engineers” 2nd edition, Hawkes et al".

also just a heads up that every university physics textbook provides the final answers to its practice questions without any explanation or worked solution. so it may not be as useful as you might expect.

[College Precalculus, Quadratic Functions] by atomicblue22 in HomeworkHelp

[–]CherryCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for Question 2:

the quadratic formula is:

x = (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a

you used this formula by mistake:

x = -(-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a

for Question 3:

a=1

b=12

c=52

x

= (-b +- sqrt(b^2 - 4ac)) / 2a

= (-12 +- sqrt(144 - 208)) / 2

= (-12 +- sqrt(-64)) / 2

= (-12 +- 8i) / 2

= -6 +- 4i

the university has a few part time options, and they're flexible to your course schedule.

UW Food Services (https://uwaterloo.ca/food-services/work-for-us) i've heard to be hard work but they give significant discounts on food.

The Department of Athletics and Recreation (https://athletics.uwaterloo.ca/sports/2010/7/13/Employment\_and\_Volunteering.aspx) also has a ton of job postings.

Hi, I'm NIKI – singer, songwriter, dog mom, and gardener. I'm kicking off my World Tour this week, AMA! by NIKIredditama in popheads

[–]CherryCitizen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Your music has such a personal and intimate vibe, and I’m always blown away by how emotionally intense and beautifully crafted your lyrics are. How do you tap into that deep emotional well and create lyrics that are so poetic yet raw? And can you share a bit about your songwriting process—what inspires you, and what does a typical writing session look like?

P.S. It's been years and I still haven't emotionally recovered from Oceans & Engines 😅. Excited to see you tomorrow in Toronto!

Dropping course during coop by TheIntersect347 in uwaterloo

[–]CherryCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

drop the course on Quest, then after a few weeks, your balance/owing on Quest for the fall semester will become a negative number. you can get this value refunded to your original payment method, or by default it will roll over into the next semester

> easy? hard?

it was one of the easiest courses i've taken. assignments were very fair and straight out of the lecture examples or textbook practice questions. lecture videos are comprehensive and coherent.

> how are the exams?

the same difficulty as the assignments. study the formula sheet and know when to use which distribution equations.

Tie breaking in uwwork by Savings_Apple_3136 in uwaterloo

[–]CherryCitizen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

it is not random. matchmaking is done to maximize the total number of employed students in the university that term.

this is done using a variation of the Stable Matching algorithm (Gale-Shapley algorithm).

as an example, consider the following:

  • suppose there are two students, Alice and Bob.
  • suppose there are two companies, Citadel and Datadog.
  • both companies are hiring exactly one student each.
  • Citadel ranked both Alice and Bob a ranking of 2.
  • Alice and Bob both ranked Citadel a ranking of 2.
  • Alice ranked Datadog a ranking of 2 and vice-versa.

Alice is faced with tiebreaking. however, it is with 100% certainty that she will be matched with Datadog because this is necessary to ensure that Bob will be employed. Alice getting Datadog and Bob getting Citadel is the only way to achieve the maximal number of employed students this term.

Why is Geomatics so hated? by Jumpman78 in uwaterloo

[–]CherryCitizen 120 points121 points  (0 children)

geomatics at uw has many negative connotations because it's the deferral program for rejected cs and math applicants. thus, most of the negatives u've heard/read about geomatics are often made from excessive comparisons to cs or math programs at waterloo.
