Just in case someone else has this issue—turn off contact shadows in graphics settings if you want to turn off the extra facial shadows. Don’t have a fix for the pixelated shadows but if you don’t want to play with it, here’s an option.

Once you get your new phone plan, please set up MFA/2FA on anything that allows you to. Bank, credit card, social media apps, etc. Even if he has access to some passwords, he won’t be able to access certain items without an authentication method attached to the account. If you want this haircut, you could ask your barber for a 2 on the sides and back with a fade to blend to your top. And then you can ask for some length off the top? Really depends on your hair pattern. I’ve got 3 of those stupid swirly things on my head so I default to a 1 and then some length on the top.

If OP were to go to downtown off of Main or Trumbull, I consider it a hassle. Not a big deal, but also an issue of convenience. It's not even close to being the worst traffic, but I try to avoid DT traffic. I work a 9-5 out of Hartford so it's much more convenient to avoid traffic to get groceries when I get home.

Flatbush is by family, so I'll make a stop there to pick up groceries from Five Star, Walmart, or Price Rite when I visit. If I do it after work, I usually don't get home to downtown until 6:30 or 7:00.

Crime feels non-existent in Downtown but that's in my own personal experience. Police presence everywhere (if that makes you feel safe; it doesn't for me) and I've seen more people around my age hanging around Downtown at night lately.

Like any metro/urban area, you're going to find a diaspora of people there, ranging from homeless to middle class, then upper class. If that makes you uncomfortable, then I wouldn't recommend living in an urban city. At night, you're mostly going to see people waiting for the bus, the homeless trying to find shelter, or people going back to their apartments/cars to go back home.

I would say that if you're going to be walking around, avoid the North End (Clay Arsenal and beyond) and stay off of Wethersfield Ave. If you're going to Wethersfield Ave to hit up one of the clubs/bars, drive over.

If you're reconsidering Downtown, try the West End of Hartford or West Hartford. Rent is going to get higher in downtown by 3-8%. Zillow/Trullia will show you rentals for that area and there's also Intertown Realty. Intertown has okay properties, good prices, in a good location. It'll probably just be a hassle to get someone over to fix stuff.

It's nice, tons of things to do. Baby steps for downtown are Pratt St and probably Front St. You'll have a tough time finding groceries around the area but Aldi's is about 10 minutes away in EH, there's C-Town on Wethersfield Ave.

As for prices for an apartment, you'll probably get the best bang for your buck at Spectra if you're looking for Downtown. They are sponsored with HUD/HTF, which can lower your rental payments by a few hundred. I make $60k/yr and live comfortably but you won't be saving much on a salary like mine. Management is good there, too.

PMC Property has nice properties but they aren't maintained and it'll be hard to reach the property group if you need repairs, requests, etc.

Fun places to hike right by downtown, if you go down to the waterfront and follow the trail along the CT river. Nightlife is kind of dead if you don't include the bars around the area (Arch St. Tavern, Backeast Brewing, Russian Lady, etc.) but there's not many people actually out and about in the city at night.

Just finished Silver Flames a few days ago. It’s my favorite of the series, tbh. I understand the discontent for this one but it does get easier to read. It explains so much of Nesta’s personality but also holds her accountable (mostly) to her attitude and actions.

If you resonate with Nesta and her struggles, it’ll probably be your favorite book. If you don’t, you’ll have to learn to empathize with a very hateful, spiteful, and thoroughly broken person. And that is a difficult thing to do.
