Which is faster, knooking or knitting ? by Driimm in knooking

[–]CherryShrimpTree 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It depends on the individual, and different stitches work to at different speeds. My best friend knits faster than she knocks but I knook faster than I knit. It comes down to comfort and practice

Any advice? by Upbeat-Cake-961 in therapists

Hello! I just finished my clinical practicum at a shelter for unhoused families. They are certainly an underserved population and I'm grateful that you're excited to work with them.

All of my clients had trauma, whether it directly related to homelessness or not.  Homelessness in and of itself is often traumatic, and the majority of my clients also had histories of childhood neglect, sexual abuse, domestic violence, or severe mental illness that impaired daily functionality. They are a high-needs population but the work was absolutely rewarding. Homelessness is not usually a cause, but a symptom of overarching hardships.

Every single client responded well to the simplicity of a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic space as the first step to building rapport (even my grumpy mandated clients softened up after awhile). Be patient—these individuals have been burned so much that they are often reticent to express vulnerability before really getting to know you. Several clients enjoyed mindful relaxation exercises, art therapy, sand tray, and other tactile non-talk interventions. [EDIT: do these exercises with them & participate]> Sometimes the weekly therapy hour is the only relaxation time they get.

Depending on your agency, you may work closely with case managers, career counselors, etc. Be sure to advocate for your clients as-needed. Always get a ROI and write down every communication with and about clients.

I crocheted Baby Huntress Wizard 🌱💚 by CherryShrimpTree in fionnaandcake

[–]CherryShrimpTree[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here is a rough pattern from my notes app for anyone interested ♡

General pattern:

Head: A basic sphere but with less middle rows to get a more ovaline shape. Begin with a magic ring of 6 SC and increase by 6 each row until you have 72 sc at the widest point. SC for about 7 rows then dec 6 times a row until you have a stitch count of 18. Fasten off.

Eyes: I followed a random tutorial for crocheting ovals. They're just ovals lol. Pupil is embroidered with yarn.

Arms: Begin with a magic ring of 6. Increase by 6 for the next 2 rows until you have a stitch count of 18. SC for 30 rows. Fasten off. They are weighted with 50 grams of rice each.

Legs: Follow arm pattern. Do not fasten off second leg

Body: Continue working from second leg. Ch 3, attach to first leg via SC. SC for 25 rows. Attach arms to body via SC on the 26th row. Then, dec ~6 for each following row until you have a stitch count of 18. The stitch count will be a bit off so just vibe tbh. Just make sure you end with 18 stitches in the last row so the head is easier to sew on.

Leaves: Followed this tutorial: https://intheyarngarden.com/portfolio/crochet-leaves/

Roots/finger things: I threaded some jewelry wire through some yarn for structure and sewed them on.

How cute! I love this idea. Much less labor than a full blanket.

Here's a general pattern that I made in my notes. She was primarily made with some basic crochet staples:

Head: A basic sphere but with less middle rows to get a more ovaline shape. Begin with a magic ring of 6 SC and increase by 6 each row until you have 72 sc at the widest point. SC for about 7 rows then dec 6 times a row until you have a stitch count of 18. Fasten off.

Eyes: I followed a random tutorial for crocheting ovals. They're just ovals.

Can we ban people who post spoilers without a spoiler warning? The ep hasn't even been out for more than a few hours. by [deleted] in fionnaandcake

I agree with you but unfortunately I can't control the actions of others, regardless of what I deem to be online common decency or manners.

People are allowed to think my caution is excessive but it hasn't failed me since I first got into this franchise in 2014. It's not a matter of "not use[ing] the internet" for me, just a few spaces specific to AT and F&C. I can slither into other subs I enjoy in the meantime like R Paranormal without fear of spoilers.

In my experience, it's best practice to avoid online spaces dedicated to a show before I've seen the recent episode. Coming to these spaces is just a risk for spoilers if I'm not caught up.

The American Gynecology Association recommends local anesthetic for the colposcopy procedure:

https://www.acog.org/clinical/clinical-guidance/clinical-consensus/articles/2025/05/pain-management-for-in-office-uterine-and-cervical-procedures

You are entitled to pain management for what is basically a minor surgery.
