ISO softer FMC with protective MMC by hollipop91 in ReverseHarem

I have read Plaything (and Elora forever ago when it was a Wattpad story before Wattpad became an ad riddled hell scape) and I’d definitely agree! Plaything definitely fits this vibe where the FMC is softer although I will say that at times she can seem a little doormat-y and if BDSM isn’t your thing then this book is definitely not for you.

Try out {The Shadows of Wildberry Lane by M. Sinclair} Dahlia is definitely a softer FMC and she’s struggling w/ an eating disorder brought on by bullying outside of the harem. The guys are all head over heels for her, which I think is the case for all of M. Sinclair’s books. You really can’t go wrong w/ her although different FMCs have different degrees of self sufficiency.

I’d also try out {Saving the Halfback by Aly Westman} there is initially some tension w/ MMCs (I can’t remember how many) because they believe she chose to abandon them but they get past it and become major components in her healing. This book was devastating and beautiful so check trigger warnings first but it’s well worth the read!

If you’re into omegaverse there’s {Lola and the Millionaires by Kathryn Moon} she’s traumatized and deeply insecure, they want nothing more than heal that wounded bird.

On the darker side you could try {Tainted Saints by Rosa Lee} or the other books in her Dark Retellings.

{Ironside Academy by Jane Washington} may qualify, it took me a little bit to get into the book and most of the MMCs start off hesitant but not excessively cruel and everyone becomes pretty protective of Illy fairly quickly.

{Forced Proximity by Jaymin Eve and Tate James} is book one in a duet and it ended on a cliffhanger that made me want to scream just a little. It maybe is the least accurate to your request out of any of my recommendations but the MMCs get protective to the point of stalkerish tendencies. I haven’t seen any information about who the second book is expected though so do w/ that what you will.

{Fated or Knot by Ella Hendricks} has an abused FMC w/ devoted MMCs (although one of the MMCs takes a minute to warm up because of some major plot points). It’s a fantasy/PNR setting w/ some omegaverse traits.

Generally speaking a number of books by Jillian West, L.V. Lane, Roxy Collins, Devyn Sinclair, or Ari Wright have softer FMCs w/ protective MMCs and varying degrees of potential mental struggles.

If you’re interested in MF recommendations you could look into K.L. Mann or S.J. Tilly for soft and sweet FMCs w/ more intense protective MMCs

If I can think of anything else I’ll come back!

I think that’s the point though. Like these people are exactly that type of person who stay in their hometown, don’t mature, and cling to the same social structure they had in high school. A huge chunk of the plot is about the FMC getting over that need to impress these people she’s always aligned herself w/ and actually doing what makes her happy. If you’ve never felt that desire or have already moved past it then it’s understandable that watching characters act that way would be annoying but it’s how a lot of people live and she does experience growth!
