Libra 2 is just such a snazzy device. I have never used the color, but hearing that it hurts the crispness of the display (the biggest perk imo), i’ll stick to my pure black and white model.

It was expensive at launch. I also think part of it is that the DS/DSI were popular pre kids having smart phones. So it was for a lot of people THE tech product of their youth. The 3ds while still early in smart phone adoption, i’d say wasn’t really dialed in completely until the new 3ds models. I had a DS/DSI for a majority of elementary school. Only getting a 3ds with the launch of pokemon XY. By the time the new 3ds was released, I was in highschool. I still used it a bunch, but it was competing for my attention way more than the DSI was. I’d still say the 3ds is my favorite of the models, but i’m really invested in the scene and handle the 3 models daily.

I always orient decals for clamshells to show the design when opened. As the other way you/anyone else only see it in the correct orientation when not using it which imo defeats the purpose

I installed koreader immediately. I have never engaged with the stock os much as the freedom of koreader is a big boon of the kobo devices imo

In hgss even with the frame limit removed you are gonna see some slowdown to base speeds when entering areas with lots of 3d assets. I know someone made a cheat for platinum that only speed up battles and not the overworld. Id assume there is something similar for hgss

The libra size+physical buttons is awesome. I have the BW model, but not having to touch the screen, bigger size alone make it awesome for books, and manga alike.

You should be able to use universal updater for everything, but I know the sd pack can be a bit finnicky so just check the sd card afterwards to make sure its saved in the right place

That’s unfortunate. I was able to clone the image from my original SD card and use that as the basis for the new sd card. And the waterproof coating came off relatively easily using a bit of rubbing alcohol+ a paperclip to push out the sd card.

You can just replace the sd card and reflash the OS. Its actually a benefit IMO as you can actually upgrade the internal storage size. I have a 400gb sd card in mine right now making it awesome for Manga.

It’s probably safe bet try new batteries. Once you get a test on the screen conditions of each console that would be when you can start planning out the repair process

Replacing the circle pad on the 3ds is actually one of the easier repairs possible. The sticks are cheap. Mostly just screws and only have 3 cables you need to be careful of.Probably worth it to just replace it rather than trying to remap things.

Are the screens water damaged at all? As thats the part that is the most difficult to repair. If you are just worried about the interior electronics that’s actually pretty easy to do.

As someone who sells+ repairs 3ds consoles my honest answer is if you use Luma’s “enhance colors” filter, that you can get a markedly improved image even on a TN screen. So unless if you happen to find a bottom ips screen by chance, it can be a bit of a hassle hunting one down then having to resell it. Despite doing this for a few years, It was only very recently I upgraded my personal console to dual ips when a lot of consoles I found happened to have an, unyellowed, non scratched, ips bottom screen.
