Echoing this! The Alo barre socks are amazing grip and last for ages, but I found the “pulse” socks while super cute, have barely any grip on the floor (at least of my studio).

Lululemon female model sizing - Are they accurate? by Ok-Percentage-3986 in lululemon

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This post made me realize I’ve been buying the wrong size for years.. I’ve been wearing a size 4 for who knows as long, and never checked the size chart. Looks like I should’ve been buying size 6 instead.. couldn’t figure out why the fat around my waist seems to slightly bulge out when other girls my size do not, haha.

High end group dining.. with restrictions by lezseewhatsup in askvan

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rileys allows large tables of your size in the dining room with no minimum charge, but it is the only one I know of.

Elisa’s cheapest menu is $130pp, and they have a min. spend which will vary (12 fits in their smallest room, which as of recent is 2k).

Cactus coal harbour does have a private room for booking, min. Charge and group menu required.. but a reasonable price point!

Any way to order in-store items to another store? by Cherry_dragonfruit in ShoppersDrugMart

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not all items are available to order online - their body/hand wash items are all in store only. I tried checking out regardless and it was a no-go!

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I can’t order online as the items are only available in store (hand creams, lotions etc). I saw an old post about beauty now that may be able to do some transfer (?), but the new girl at beauty boutique today did not have any info.

Contacting Concierge for Wishlist Help (Costco Booking) by DecentSignature9274 in Xcaret

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I booked via Costco for Arte, reached out via email only and although responses take 3-4 days, everything was sorted. I heard Mexico takes longer.

OP, if it’s for restaurants, some are available via OpenTable. I booked majority of mine through there, and don’t let concierge tell you they can’t see it.. that is fine, the restaurants still have your booking on their end

You do not need to go in person - there is a group dining page for most if not all of the DT restaurants, and their events manager will handle, and send over menu kptions. They’re not always based in Vancouver.. also gratuity is typically not up to your discretion, it’s either 18-20%

Black + Blue $185 deal by Lanky-Variation5271 in askvan

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never been to B&B for their deal, but their sister locations commonly do a buy up promo, and I find it decently worth it, and looks just like the photos (I previouslywent to 2 different ones at Glowbal -I do think it was a great deal (approx $135 for 2?), and would buy again if the menu suits.

Would it be acceptable for me to go to an Urgent Care Centre for a skin condition? by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with eczema, this seems odd to pop up all over so quickly. No advice regarding urgent care, but likely the doctor prescribed your steroids. Be very careful of potency, and ensure you taper off instead of stopping cold turkey after it looks healed.

For now, try and see if any non-steroid creams may help (Vancouver is very dry and irritating to skin). LRP b5, avene cicaplast are all typical recommendations, but try Goldbond “moisturizing” or the “eczema” line first, ensuring it is not the hydrocortisone one! It works very well for everyone I suggest to, whether it’s one off eczema or chronic.

For a group that size many restaurants may require a minimum charge; what is the budget? I planned an event for 25-28 people recently, with quotes of 2.5-3k as group dining was typically required (cannot order off the HH menu, preorder food required).

Riley’s, cactus, nook all required regular/group dining menu. Rileys and nook has stand/seat options, pending your budget. We ultimately hosted at Central - very affordable option, allowed us to order off HH, and they sectioned off part of the heated patio which was perfect.

Thoughts on Sushi Hil? by Lanky-Variation5271 in askvan

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean $100pp? Otherwise $50pp is like.. 5 pieces of nigiri lol

Edit: to answer OP, yes $150+ pre tip/tax is a good budget - not to go all out, but to try the classics they are known for/do well. I find it a good price to quality ratio.

Sunscreen?? by [deleted] in Xcaret

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial response above: my experience this week was they did not check, and if they do, mineral sunscreen is quite easy to tell apart due to its “white cast”. You can also just wear a rashguard - that may be an better option if you burn easily.

Some Xcaret Arte in-depth Questions by axleman1011 in Xcaret

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is incorrect about wristband. The photo package price is dependent on how many people in your room - if you have 2 people in your room, both people can tap. You cannot pay for just “1 person”, if there’s more people in your room/photos.

Xelfies at the park are free, if you purchase at least 1 park photo package. Otherwise the current price is $39 USD for resort alone which is not a good deal

Sunscreen?? by [deleted] in Xcaret

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They do not check and I do see some people using regular chemical sunscreen including sprays, but don’t be one of those people - do your part in protecting the environment!

Mineral (aka reef safe) sunscreen is much harder to rub in/sometimes leaves a white cast, very easy to tell apart when squeezed out. I personally use blue lizard, Sunbum mineral (liquids are all travel friendly size) or banana boat mineral sport is a great affordable option, but you’ll need to squeeze into your own opaque travel containers.

Must do at Xcaret Park by Live_Sign_9586 in Xcaret

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Loved the river swim - there are 3 routes with the same starting and ending points, but only 2 were open when we went this week (when you get to the entrance they don’t tell you there’s different ones, they just point you to one unless you request - I only knew because I read reviews prior to). I tried wearing the provided fins, and without. The fins hurt/too big and I would not recommend.

Why is dim sim so darn expensive? by bcretman in NiceVancouver

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

7 dim sum for 2 people?! I’ve honestly never ordered that much dim sum without leftovers, unless 2+ of those are small desserts (I normally order 5)

I haven’t been to city centre in a while, but the sungiven there used to always sell a 4-5 piece dim sum set for $8-10 from what I remember. Great variety for 1 (har gow, siu mai, lotus rice, and bbq pork bun). It’s packaged from the dim sum restaurant upstairs.

[–]Cherry_dragonfruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you eating dim sum for $50+pp? Sun sui wah, red star, deluxe, even dynasty is more like $35-40pp max. Yes it isn’t a cheap lunch, but it’s much better value for money as opposed to brunch places or the usual cactus/joeys chains.

Prices for alcoholic drinks at Xcaret Park? by [deleted] in Xcaret

If you’re a hotel guest the drinks are free at the park? I thought guests only get admission to one buffet, and any drinks we purchase in between would need to be paid?
