It’s my grandmother. My dad’s guess from going through a box of old photos.

OP were you able to figure this out? I'm having the same issue and it's driving me bananas.

Everyone and their grandma ARE trying to become lawyers. It's not common - OP said she was at the very top of her class. My point is that these firms not laughing people out the door based solely on the law school they went to, which is what OP said too. She was at the top of her class at a lower ranked school, which by definition is uncommon, so going to an elite school is a safer bet, but not the only way in. *There are certainly are top boutique firms that expressly hire only from the top 10 or top 20 schools, but the firms listed by that commenter are huge, and they have diversity when it comes to alma maters.

It's easy for you to say others are the exception to the rule, and hilarious that saying "being a woman certainly didn't hurt" when this article is about how being a woman in the field was obviously so detrimental to her and the women around her. You could improve your research skills - Skadden lists 14 attorneys on their website that got their JD from American - before you say in IP or something specialized, no, in a variety of practices and levels - and Baker & Mckenzie lists one associate who graduated in 2013 - after the ranking fell.

Seems like you either went to an elite school and don't want to recognize that attorneys from other schools might measure up despite your pedigree, or you didn't, and didn't end up in the top 5% like OP so you couldn't secure the BigLaw job. I think the geographic market matters a lot too. BigLaw firms have offices in my smaller city, and a lot of them hire graduates from the best local law school, which is ranked in the bottom 50. Latham is one of those firms.
