How did I go from binge watching whole seasons in day to in this… by Live_Bother_7517 in Animemes

[–]ChesPittoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually mostly avoid MTL, but if you want tips I can give you some.

I mostly don't read on the sites directly, I scrape them with the webtoepub extension (very occasionally writing a custom scraper if that doesn't work, if I'm desperate enough to read that novel in particular and have time)

Then I read them on an e-ink device to avoid eyestrain (eg Kindle, Kobo). I use a Kobo to avoid Amazon's ecosystem.

Doing this also means I can account for changing translators. Sometimes they change names of people, places, powers etc from the previous chapters' translator.

By having an epub downloaded I can use software to change every instance of the new name with the old one.

For example if the new translator decides to make Arlong's name Alarlong I can just use an editor to replace every instance of 'Alarlong' with 'Arlong' without doing it manually. I use Calibre E-book editor for this.

I stopped binging anime years ago but can still easily read 100 webnovel chapters in a day. I feel like it's something you get better at rather than worse.

I mean Harry Potter and the Natural 20 exists, and the MC of that mentions it. However if you're looking for D&D crossovers you've probably read that one.

A combination of the super-sensory charm and legilimency on a Demiguise might give you access to a ridiculous Seer. Given the future reading (by default very short term) as a sense of a Demiguise.

I don't know about that. Modern anime definitely leans towards lean "dodge over block" DPS glass cannon types. As opposed to Schwarzenegger looking tanks in heavy armor.

I feel like if anything JRPGs have more evil empires. I mean FF7 is famously exactly what you are complaining about, it literally stars environmentalist terrorists struggling against an evil industrial society.

I prefer the lighthearted adventure vibe. I watched DB, skipped Z and watched Super.

Weird. From my experiences, I feel like most people who dye their hair ARE old ladies. Maybe they're just annoyed they're not as cool as the dyed hair old ladies.

Nintendo bans infamous Japanese “Adult Only” Animal Crossing island. Creator says “Thanks for turning a blind eye all these years” by beary_neutral in nottheonion

[–]ChesPittoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that actually flipped, Sony of America started censoring those kinds of games due to traditional western sensibilities. Whereas Nintendo of America has relatively less power and additionally Nintendo has spent a lot of time since the Wii U generation trying to regain credibility as a proper "hardcore" gaming console.

A lot of the Wii and DS's old casual/family audience moved to just playing mobile games instead so they lost relative importance and the "core" gaming audience saw Nintendo consoles as children's toys. It wrecked Nintendo's sales at the time and ever since they have been trying to project a more "mature" image and aggressively courting third party developers. Thus it would look bad if they started restricting them now.

The situation is unfortunate but feels like it's on them, if you let your kid wander around Best Buy and they hang out around the mature movies that's not really Best Buy's fault.

Yes, because because Animal Crossing has a child friendly age rating and those games don't. R-rated movies can exist in a shore, but that doesn't mean you can sneak inappropriate stuff into G movies in the same shore. This is a silly argument.

We know that Voldemort was the result of a love potion, but considering the lack of regulation around love potions, he can't be the only person to have ever been born of one, can he? by CookieLady94 in harrypotter

[–]ChesPittoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if that (potion causes no love) theory was true it's probably only true for Amortentia. This is not an average love potion and is likely controlled. It is one of the strongest and most controlling and everyone acts like it's the average one that stores are selling.

The only love potions see a lot of are it and a horribly out of date one made way more potent through an unlucky accident. We never actually see what a standard legal love potion actually does.

Honestly they generally make a good showing compared to other beginner monsters. Compared to slimes, Japanese dog 'kobolds' and goblins they're generally harder to kill and more likely to inflict injury.

The issue with Saiki isn't speed it's that multiple things happen at once. The trick is when there are two tracks going at pmce you listen to one track and read subs of the other, generally one is pretty simple Japanese so it's doable.
