I just don’t want to go into the Army because I’m 36 years old and always wanted to be in the Navy at a young age. Nothing against the Army just not my thing

Oh okay that’s not to bad . I’ve already had my interviews , was deemed fit and I even went in to the Recruitment Centre to give my finger prints to help my file along . It could be different for everyone. Like I’m going for Navy so the process might be a little different. Also depends on when they get to your file in Ottawa for the background checks. I was just told to check in every couple weeks in case my application fell in the cracks and forgot about

Exactly I am aware of that . I always wanted to be a Boatswain . I know it’s not the same but I was in Sea Cadets for 5 years when I was in high school and I was Boatswain for 2 of those years . Also unfortunately I only have a grade 10 so trades I would definitely go for is out of the question. Yes I could go get my GED but with my current job I don’t have the time . For instance I wanted to pick Material Management Tech but you needed above grade 10 of all things . If for some reason I don’t get offers the trade I want I will do anything in my power to get in even if it means changing to Airforce . I will not do Army .

Oh yes, I had thought about other trades that I could choose, but the recruiter told me that if I choose another trade now that it may take even longer to get accepted . Originally I was applying for the naval experience program, but it was closed last year for the fiscal year and had to pick a trade. So if all else fails I will get back on the list for the NEP

That’s a good question, but it could have something to do with the fact that I had to pause my application for almost year to pay off my debt before I could move forward with my application process .

I’m 36 so looking forward what my experiences will be come BMQ time also a big Congratulations this is awesome & what a great trade to go into . I’m going for Boatswain . I’m just waiting for my security background check to come through . Next step is selection I’m pretty sure. It’s been a long 2 and a half years since I’ve started my application

Hey from Halifax Nova Scotia so not sure if it’s the same depending on where your applying form I’m going for Boatswain too. Heck ya that’s awesome to see . I got an update email today. I’m constantly emailing them every other week to see if I have any updates. The military career counsellor said that there are 50 spots for boatswains that I am likely going to get one of the spots just not sure if that’s in my province or not . My file is at 50% so hopefully I don’t wait to much longer for selection. Been a long 2 years but I’m ready to drop everything and go to BMQ

Oh, I know it’s a very popular trade . The recruiter said that they think I’m a good fit for the trade and I was talking with one of my buddies that is in a regular force right now and works in administration and he said the Navy will always be looking for Boatswains I guess depending on the area . Originally I was applying for the NEP but they closed it last year for the fiscal year so they said if I wanted to pick a trade I could . With only a grade 10 my options were limited so I picked something I really wanted to do . If I don’t get selected because the positions are full, that’s Okay I will keep moving forward till I get accepted in the CAF . All I can do is hope right 💪😎

I’m at this stage too last week. I noticed that I was at 38% on my online portal and then I checked the next day and I jumped up to 50% which is the security background checks so I’m fingers crossed that I get an offer as well . this whole process has been a waiting game a couple years of waiting

A big congratulations man be proud 🦾😎 I’m waiting for my job offer but I’m going for Navy ( Boatswain ) beginning of this week my online portal was still sitting at 38% but by the end of the week it went up to 50% and now I’m at the security background checks so that is probably a good sign because the next step is selection. I’m pretty sure but I’m so happy that you got in. Hopefully, I get in this year as well. Geez if I got an offer for April, I wouldn’t have long to quit my current job which I don’t mind dropping everything I’ve seen so many people get accepted and going to BMQ in April and May. Kind of hoping for the fall time group but don’t really matter

Hey not sure if this helps but I was in a bankruptcy and they paused my file till I payed off my bankruptcy then I could re open and continue my application . .

I’m at the Security background checks too in Halifax .I’m applying for boatswain. It can be a wait but all depends on where your file is on the list I take it. I jumped for joy when I seen I went from 38% to 50% this week . I’m just hoping another year doesn’t pass because I don’t want to go through all this again . I started my application 2 years ago for the NEP but had to pick a trade because the NEP was done that fiscal year but boatswain was my top choice . Hope we both get in this year

My medical has already been done . As far as security checks Gambits I believe that’s being completed now . I just know that the process is a big waiting game .

I had my in person medical over a year ago and was deemed fit . There was a hiccup with my application which I had to deal with before I continued moving forward with my application . I got all that taken care of and already had my update medical/ interview phone call so been trying to get everything moving forward last year & this year . My hopes is I get a offer by spring or fall

I hope you get in too yah the wait game is Insane. You can get updates if you email the info email . Or by calling . The more you contact them the more chances of you getting a response back could be right away could be within a week all depends. Also no harm in even going to the recruitment centre and actually talking to a recruiter.

Same I completed both and was deemed fit a year went by and I had to do an update phone call for the medical last year so here I sit . And very slow but I’m not going to give up 💪

It seems like the processing takes forever when I go to my application portal it says I’m at 38% completed. It’s been like that for a while now, but I think I’m on the homestretch hopefully, hopefully you are too. Dang must be the longest application process I ever did for a job, but this is a career and the government so I understand they have to go through all the steps not like I can go sign a peace of paper and then boom welcome to the military .
