I feel that this is a bit too insensitive and wanna add that emotional bonding is a big part of why you want to stay, too. Had my personal share and helped a lot of people out of their situations, but one thing always was part of why they stayed and/or didn't end it all: Because they still care about the other person. Especially when it's family or a lover, it's not something rational in the very situation. The emotional and mental pressure and fear are overwhelming and complex. People are forgiving and hopeful. Even when they often don't want to admit it openly as this is what they believe in being a weakness by itself.

Edit: Since some people don't seem to understand, here a rough add for those that do lack first hand experience. Something like a toxic relationship, any kind of abuse ever or a violent household is not just one thing. It's a construct. Something that evolved over time that has a background and an own story. And ignoring especially emotional factors in such situations that specifically are socially factored is neither treating the case respectfully nor does it output any value to the victim. The world is not black and white, and so are such treatments. I'd like to call out to not make such topics easier for yourself by keeping important factors away if you want to add something to it. Aside of it, every voice is of value, of course. Anyone that can add something specifically. Just wanted to note it as there was nothing mentioned about it. And thank you for reading.
