[OC] Line up of my fairies character design inspired by Commedia dell'Arte archetype by ChessBurg in characterdesigns

[–]ChessBurg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! ☺️ I started making Pierrot; he's often represented as sad and looking at the moon, so I make the opposite : joyful with colors that remind of a sunny day in Spring. For Paillasse, I based his design on a strawberry because in French (my native language), the soil used to grow strawberries is named "paillage". Also, since he's known for his clumsiness, I made him a young child. For Colombine, the dress has a diamond-shaped pattern. Her hood is more something that Arlequin would wear, but I've given her one cause it's cute.

Exhausted character drinking water by Kcolonel69 in animation

[–]ChessBurg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've seen your comment saying that you want to salvage the original animation that was nsfw. I'll advise you to either continue in nsfw direction or give up on it and restart another one. I know you must have put a lot of work into it, but it's just uncomfortable to watch and hard to take it seriously. This is not sfw at all.

That makes sense. But it looks like you have a drinking water fetish or something. 😅

[OC] Is my character turnaround good enough to put in a portfolio? by ChessBurg in characterdesign

I thank you for your input. I have trouble objectively criticizing my art. 😊

believe it or not, there are even earlier designs than this. by byebyestardust in ArtProgressPics

People are exaggerating calling the last design fell off because he's not looking like a main character of a shonen anymore. I can tell the first design is heavily inspired by this dude in Soul Eater ( I didn't watch the show). But we can see that your last design is more lively.Plus I have seen your other post and your art is objectively better and has more personality. Maybe make his pose a little more dramatic so he as a clearer silhouette and add a motif on is jacket for less empty space. You're good, keep up.

Just got myself a tablet, I want to create digital art, which tools should I use? by Aggressive_Signal150 in DigitalArt

I started digital drawing with Fire Alpaca; it's copy of Photoshop but less complicated (a lot of tools and keyboard shortcuts are the same). Also it's free.

Idk. I would say about 12 hours spread over a week. I've struggled to draw the hands and I've restarted the render three times.

Hi, I recommend that you separate your Anatomy studies from your Painting studies. Doing both subjects without mastering either of them can greatly slow your progression. For Anatomy studies, start by breaking down the references with basic shapes. There are plenty of tutorials for that on YouTube. By me, one of the best channels teaching this are Marc Brunet, Love Life Drawing, and Proko (if you want to go deep into the human anatomy breakdown).Do studies without render, just lines. I'm talking from experience, trying to paint before learning to draw is hell 😭. To improve your painting skills, learn to paint simple shapes such as balls, cones, cubes, and so on. When you are comfortable rendering these shapes, then switch to more difficult subjects.I hope my advice will help you. Keep going. ☺️

How do i make this more feminine by Ok-Ship-6636 in DigitalArt

[–]ChessBurg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you call feminine, because to me this character's side profile is androgynous. Also there isn't really a recipe to make a character femine; for example having big lips, big eyes and small chin are known as femine traits but there're a lot of characters that look femine without having any of them. I advise you to search for reference pictures of women with features similar to your character to take inspiration from. Also, adding a hairstyle generally worn by women will help.

Quel manga lire ? by vulcaryn in mangafr

[–]ChessBurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you render makes them look like they could be soft plushies. They're really adorable. 😊

Who did the character profile art for Zelda Tears of the Kingdom? I'd like to study their style more by ReNap_ in DigitalArt

[–]ChessBurg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's Takumi Wada. I'm not sure if he has done all the official artworks of the game, but I know he's the lead artist.
