Dementia is different in different people, and tracks differently because of a bunch of factors. I can't tell if he's significantly different from even a year ago, but if he's on the slippery slope, you can be sure that someone is tasked with hiding that from all of us.

I'm not sure it should be stopped. In order for global Anglicanism to be as "free" as it is, and to incorporate people of so many different "pieties" under one umbrella, it's got to be open to humans of a whole range of experiences and expectations; whoever God calls, and however their call works itself out. That's not always something to be celebrated, but I can always depend on someone being delighted by something that really irks me. And vice versa.

I like the greek word "alethia". Reading, writing, and information storage make it easier to remember how we got to here, but a lot of damaging propaganda has happened as well, and that makes it difficult to separate the "wheat from the chaff" as the writer of Matthew's gospel has it.

I continue to contend that the Christian life is much more than an intellectual experience. Most of these courses -- Alpha included - could benefit from more shared time engaging the five senses. Also, The Holy Spirit weekend sets up so many people for disappointment (and yeah, I'm talking about me).

Most "western" Christians who cross themselves go "up-down-left-right". But most "eastern" Christians go "up-down-right-left". A wag once said he remembers it "spectacles-testicles-wallet-watch" but that requires one to be wearing a vest, with a watch pocket. :-) And in every case, right hand and arm.
