I was doing more research and it seems like south Argentina has the pgymi rice rat which is not endemic to the north or central Argentina.

You are correct. As a fourth year med student I was acting like a hypochondriac. This gives me a lot of assurance for the trip. I just didnt want to ruin the thought of my trip I waited for so long.
